Waiting to see that final configuration and performance specs along with price.

I find the M235i a almost perfect fit for my driving needs but would like a bit more punch out of her that I am hoping the M2 delivers for the money.

UK dealers are simply not allowed to sell above RRP, I honestly don't know how BMW NA allow it to happen.

My main issue is can I wait it out, or cave and change for something else with great deals on, like a 435i
How can anyone (manufacturer) LIMIT the distributor (dealer) at what resale price they want to sell??
This is against the trade rules.
Think apple.

I put a deposit down about 6 months ago with confirmation of being 1st on list at my BMW dealer (UK).

However have now decided not to proceed with M2 and instead the deposit has been moved to the M2 GTS / CSL, which of course may never happen. I am eagerly waiting for some kind of successor to the E46 M3 CSL, a car I used to own, so am hoping BMW do end up making something special. I don't think the normal M2 is the car I was hoping for.

If you already own a m135 what exactly is your idea of a "dog" M2?

I have been with my dealer for a while so I don't think that they are going to screw me. I got a deal on my 2008 135i before the official launch at the NYIAS. So I am hoping this goes the same way.

Hi there,

Have you really instructed this to your dealer? What was there response, surely something along the lines of it might never be made? Sorry to see you feel this way, what specifically don't you think the M2 will deliver?

Yes it has been instructed and is all in writing. The response was indeed it may never be made, I am fully aware of this. In fact, they cannot even confirm/announce there will be a BMW M2 yet, though of course there will be judging by various leaks and photos.

The reason I don't think the M2 will deliver (for me) is because I understand there will be a coupe and convertible, plus it will be a full production model. I had hoped it would be a limited volume model with some compromises which the "mainstream" market wouldn't accept. For example like the E46 M3 CSL.

I am hopeful that BMW will respond in some way to the likes of the Cayman GT4 with a proper focussed road/track car, this is a gap in their offering which of course they may never address because it's not worth it financially.

You could argue I should buy another E46 M3 CSL, I haven't ruled that out. Meanwhile the 1M to me was simply too soft and quiet, have never understood the fuss about it, but it looked nice.

All in my own opinion, no doubt others would disagree.

I know we are yet to know the price of the M2, but are the dealers saying you will be paying MSRP?

Or are you able to say, "I want to pay $500 above invoice" or $750 above, $1k above, etc.

Just want to be prepared if I decide to place a deposit for one.

Also, curious to see how many have put deposits down so there is a poll available.
Is this a joke?

When my M235i finally arrives, I won't be looking past it for the next car. I'm chillin' with my F22 for a long time.

I just started approaching dealers about putting down a deposit. I'm also inquiring about being the first in line and making sure I don't get bumped if someone else offers over MSRP, we'll see what they say.

UPDATE: I went ahead and put down a $1,000 fully refundable deposit at my local dealer and they've indicated it will guarantee the first spot in line with them and also an MSRP purchase price. Yeahh!!!! Now I just have to survive the wait.
