[QUOTE=twin fed;17510044]The M2 will be my good weather car, just like my 135i was. I have an B8 Audi A4 for daily duties. I may put it on the track, but my real track car is my Porsche...
Dang twin fed, all these1 addicts posts later, and I had no clue you were rockin an older 911 Porsche track car.... NICE! Too funny that I just saw this and recognized your name/sig. Makes me reconsider powdercoating my wheels green again, ha ha. Anyway... too bad the 1er is gone, but looking forward to seeing what happens with the 2

It has been in storage for a few years but come springtime it WILL see the street and definitely more track days. As for the 1er, I definitely miss it. Always got mixed reviews on the wheels but I always loved them.

Yeah man, awesome. It doesn't even need the JAGERMEISTER stickers... ha ha. There's nothing like the look of a purposeful track/street car minus all the sponsor decals. Of course when you stop at the gas station people will be asking you about the roll cage... but that's a whole 'nother story.
Sorry OP for the highjack, unintended!

I am torn right now. I have a 2011 STi that I think I want to keep and use as my track/winter car and leaving the M2 as a DD with the occasional track day. I'm not sure. I think my problem is all the amazing cars out there right now.

I wonder if the chassis will have similar braces or solid subframe mount to the body, as the M4 does. Ideal for a trackable car.

^ Totally. I'd hate to see BMW pull out all the stops for a poser mobile. Gotta get tracked.

The M cars have gotten to big and heavy to be enjoyable track cars. They do great double duty if you have to, but if you have the means, it's much more satisfying to have a dedicated track machine and a separate street car. BMW will not make the M2 a GT3-like car, and a M2 CSL will not be a GT3RS. At the end of the day both the M2 and the M2 CSL are poser cars. They will likely be very fine driving machines--for the street.

I know I will end up taking the ///M2 on track, especially so I know the full extent of the cars capabilities, albeit far from a track car. I would love to start building a track car within the next two years or so depending on how cash flows are looking, business comes first in this regard.

If I go M2 it will absolutely be for the track!! FWIW I am also hoping for an uncompromised or at least less compromised M car! It needs to feel like its connected to the road!

1-2 (or more as permitted) track events plus random canyon drives (I live 5 miles from angeles crest) per month.
Of course, the track suspension and alignment setup - kw cs minimum, -3.5 degrees camber up front, -2 degrees in back, fit in the fattest square tire setup possible (unless in this car it is not needed for better turn in compared to current e9x m3) on dedicated track tires (I have a dedicated set right now, but then my "street" set ended up being the exact same wheel size and tire combo : ), stud kit, full exhaust and decent tune for better power delivery (linear torque curve and better throttle response), upgraded cooling if necessary for the bonus 30-40 minute session at the end of the event, half cage, seats, brakes - holy shit list is getting long so must buy a stripper to minimize initial costs!! Am I the only one mad like this?? e9x/e46 guys seem to be the most addicted Last edited by M3 Number 86; 06-02-2015 at 02:16 AM.. |

I'd like to run a few iconic tracks like Lime Rock, Watkins Glen, Mosport, the 'Ring and Spa.
But I will dive like the old man that I am. Four decades of destroying scheisse on the track is enough. I just want to have fun and have nothing to prove. |
