(2018 M240i) Strange clicking noise at idle

Have about 3,000 miles on a 2018 M240i, mostly city driving.

Recently, when at idle after driving a few minutes, I hear a strange clicking or tapping noise when sitting at a signal (automatic transmission, in "D"). It happens at regular intervals, one click (or tap) about every 10 seconds, and it sounds like it happens underneath the car, around the area under the center armrest or the rear seat footrest area (in the center).

Not sure what it is, and doesn't seem to affect the car in any way other than the noise- anyone else have the same issue?

Yeah...happens sometimes....assembly line worker gets stuck under the console and wants to go home. Let him out near an airport, and you should be fine.

(No, actually don't have this noise...wonder if an exhaust bracket is expanding/heating up...similar to such noises you might hear in the garage from exhaust hardware contracting when cooling down after a drive?)

The car is under warranty. Take it back to the dealer. You've paid for warranty service.

Were they able to give a reason for this? When I’m parked I also have this knocking noise seems like it’s coming from the mid to back of the car

likely exhaust actuator/flap rattling. Disconnect it and see if the sound persists.
