Dinan stage 1

I had a thread about this before but I didn't get any good answers. I have the dinan stage 1 and it feels terribly slow. From 60-100 I clocked in at 6.5 secs! As as slow as some stock n55s! How is dinan claiming 370hp and 430tq? Something wrong? Should I call dinan? Should I dyno it first? Suggestions?

You may not gotten many good answers because it has been discussed a multitude of times, there are a few huge threads covering Dinan's tune and how underwhelming users have been finding it.

Dinan claims BHP not WHP. you car BHP is around 325 ( i know it says 300 in magazines but BMW are notorious for underrating their engines) so you are only getting 45 BHP more. Dinan is a very conservative tune. if you were looking for something more aggressive you should have done a bit more research.

Another negative Dinan experience? Geez...has the Dinan rep ever come on here and explained why all these M235i guys have had such bad experiences?? Over on the f30 section, most of the 335i guys have had positive feedback about the Dinantronics. Weird.

Has it maybe "adjusted" and started to feel more powerful as you put miles on it? Also, why don't you call Dinan ASAP and send it back if you're that disappointed?

I ask these questions because I'm scheduled to have the Dinan tune installed on my 335i (w/MPPK)....so it's essentially the same as adding it to an M235i....and I'm concerned with these bad experiences. I do plan on a dynoing a few days afterward, and if it really does underperform, I'm getting my money back.

I hoped it would become faster after some miles but it is not the case. I called the dinan and told them it doesn't feel as fast as it should be and they kind of blew me off saying it's just a subjective statement. However there is a firmware update for it that I am installing tomorrow. I believe though it's the one where it raises the torque from 407 to 430 so not much of a difference. I'm hoping they find something wrong or something. I will update tomorrow.

Well keep us posted. It's funny you say they blew you off about the "subjectivity" of it....because when I asked how I'll truly know if the tune is installed (properly), the Dinan guy said, "oh trust me....you'll know....you'll feel A LOT more power".

Interesting that they change their tune (no pun intended) after they've made the sale.

Can't wait to hear...why did you need updates out of curiosity?
