2 series seat lowering options
Hello,
I'm trying to make a buying decision on a new M235i with sunroof delete option. I can fit the car ok without the sunroof, but there's not going to be any track-days as a helmet is not going to fit me and retain a reasonable driving position. I had a demo car for 24 hours and spent a bunch of time messing with he adjustments and can't squeeze more headroom out of the seat. Even though I fit without a helmet I still feel like I have to peer under the roof line to see traffic signals and cramped. These are with the Sport Seats Option #481. Has anyone modded a seat or the seat track to get these lower in the car? I searched any really didn't find anything that looked simple. I need the back seat and don't really want to bolt in a fixed racing seat. I'm about to write off the car that is otherwise perfect for me. |

I'm 5-10 'on a good day' & 160pounds and the 235 w/sunroof fits me perfect. When I was 20-pounds heavier a few months back, there were times the steering wheel was making entering and exiting not so elegant.
I'm surprised there aren't more complaints from larger people about the 2-series being too small. |

It's me, not the car. I've got some abnormally long torso. In the past I've hunted down things like 911s without sunroofs, then had the seat rails modified to get it low enough for a helmet (and still rubbed).
I really had hopes this car would work after reading about the great headroom. Loved the car, but had a stiff neck after spending an afternoon in it. I'm about 6'4", but have the torso of a guy 6'10" or something. Sucks |

I've read the manual seats go a bit lower. |

Not many cars come without a sunroof nowadays (especially in Canada where we have fewer options). Other cars considered: Lexus IS350 and Cadillac ATS. Both available without a sunroof (up here). Ultimately, the M235i was the best compromise between fun and comfort (within the budget). Good luck with your search. |

Thanks.. Yes, it's doable and I'm moving forward with the purchase. I just wish there was a good solution. Leaning way back puts me in a rather poor driving position. |
