Will be buying a 2018 M240I at an auction for fun for $4k
Gonna go look at a clean title, no accidents, 2 owner, 45k miles at an auction, i've seen these go for 3-4k (people in the auction dont like bmws.)
this would be my first 2 series, i think its a steal at 4k, the body looks to be in perfect condition, so my thought is, worse case scenario part it out and make the 4k easy on the body and interior. What should i be looking for right away on these vehicles? im a 3 series guy and know most of the common problems, do they also apply to these 2 mtech series? again, i am buying this car for fun, see if its good and can make it a nice weekend car, if not ill part it out as WORSE case scenerio. Are there any bmw warranties that still cover the car at 45k miles? Your advice will be appreciated. |

I agree hence why im going to look at it. I did some research i think i know how to tell what a real m tech look slike now. Also, will do a vin check as soon as i see it to confirm. What's the hardest part to believe? the no accidents part, or how cheap it it? so i can focus on that.

$30-40k?
Sounds like a good deal especially at the low end of that range. Should still have the remainder of factory warranty. Mine is '17 with 49K miles, mildly tuned with 19" wheels. No issues other than general maintenance items. Any pics of the vehicle? Enjoy it if it works out. |

Try to find out its story if you can. Like said above, it definitely sounds too good to be true.
If you wont miss the money then go for it, you'll have leftovers for repairs if needed. |

I recind my previous post. Personally I would stay away from a branded title. Doubt there is any factory warranty. $4k, you are mechanically/electrically inclined, like wrenching, give it a go!
Why not. |

Well, if really interested then a VIN search is in order. That will tell you if the car is clean. Some states clean titles... So beware! I forgot the states that do, so use Google, that'll tell ya'. But there is a reason they say it's too good to be true! It usually isn't! Hahahaha
If you're set on throwing away $3-4k geeee, throw it my way, I promise to have fun with it! |

In this market, where dealers are begging people to buy their used cars so they can get some inventory, I suspect it would have been gobbled up by one of those dealers. Something is definitely amiss. Good luck and hope it really is not a money pit.
