Pretty sure that's the zoom pixelation combined with the white floor reflecting back onto the diffuser making it look matte. You can even see the lines on the floor reflected in the diffuser. It looks glossy in every other pic, sometimes even slightly metallic.

It definitely is glossy, like any other M-Sport diffuser out there!

Agree pretty much all this needed.

The diff is glossy, but there is no shadow line trim as supposed... It's fully grey painted...

The first "meeting" though, was on the Autobahn as we drove towards Munich. A white M235i overtook us:

Damn those tires on the white 2 series look soo thin compared to how wide the car actually is !
I was thinking the same thing. Coming from a visual aesthetic point of view, the car needs fatter rears, I'd say 255's would be perfect. This just looks disappointing

Looking forward to driving and compare against the new S3. However I may wait until the convertible of both are available.

You know I've been bouncing back and forth about the rear diffusor look. My first impression was that it was just a shiny grey slab that was under engineered and had no forethought.

However, yesterday, I was looking at the back of my F30 from a distance, and now I see the similarity. Although still under engineered, I see the thinking in it. The bump/curve the diffusor continues a line from the bumper curve above the rear reflectors, making an "m" wave pattern. This is actually the same as the F30 ( except on the F30, the bottom of the wave is still on the bumper and not on the diffusor ). It might be hard to see in the F30 since the shape is more gradual, but on salt/winter dirt stained car, I can definitely see it.

So the diffusor on the F22 is growing on me... its actually a bit clever.

Not bad! It definitely looks way better in person than on pictures and you can see the shape of the diffusor better. Maybe it isn't THE best bumper BMW has ever made, but it's far from beeing the ugliest.

My ONLY concern ( looks wise ) is the way the trunk looks cube shaped. Most shots currently out there are photos taken 6-10' away if not closer and dead on to the rear. This tends to flatten the contours. The pic in white may hint at more since its taken further away. It looks more rounded and less boxy. Anyway, for that I will hold my judgement until I see it at the autoshow later this month.

As for the silver/metallic side mirrors, I get that too. It reflects some design elements from the grill and the headlights, and is another horizontal element meant to make the car look wider... but it doesn't work at all for me. And its annoying that if I buy this car, I would have to spend $$$ correct this mistake by BMW.

Those dreaded air blades suck, so be happy the US didn't get 'em (if that's the case), cause I think we're stuck w them in Canada, meaning time for black masking tape paint...

Also the car looks good in red but way better in Mineral White.

I actually like the air blades, but its not a biggie for me either way. I'm sure there's lots of solutions to that, as I've seen people paint the "whiskers" on the F30's.

I like air blades. I am pretty sure they are useless unless hitting autobahn speeds (car impound and 10000 fine in Canada). However I am sure they will make a fine topic of conversation at cocktail parties.

What is your source of information that Canada will have air blades ?

The rear bumper on the white car on the road looks different from the one on the red car at Welt, especially on both sides where it curves inward on the white car.

I noticed that as well. The white car is a test vehicle, perhaps pre-production?
