the e46 definitely felt more connected. In my opinion, throttle response was tack sharp and the engine REALLY liked to rev... blips were without hesitation. Heel/toe and rev matching was without effort. Suspension definitely firmer and more planted. Steering was heavier, shifter location seemed better (for me) in the sense that it's more forward in the cabin so my 1-2, 3-4 shifts resulted in less wrist action. Clutch seemed firmer and quicker to grab. This is of course what i can remember after some 13 years or so, and coming from an average driver... I'm no SCCA god or anything.... But the M235i definitely easier to live with on day to day basis. Comfy, fun, and still exciting enough. I got 27mpg on my commute this morning!

Ever notice how when you look back at things in your past they always seem better than they actually were?
