1. Make sure the car is in Sport+ mode. 2. Make sure the transmission lever is in the left (S) position. Do not enter manual mode. 3. With your left foot, depress the brake pedal HARD. This is where a lot of people go wrong. They don't press the brake pedal hard enough. Don't worry, you wont break it. 3. Fully depress the accelerator (pressing the kickdown switch). 4. If done correctly you will see the checkered flag appear in the instrument cluster along with "launch control activated." 5. Release the brake. As long as you keep the accelerator floored (pressing the kickdown switch), the car will automatically upshift at the redline through each gear.

Once the checkered flag appears, you have a 3 second period to release the brake.

FYI I believe the car's ECU stores the number of times launch control is used. A BNW Dealer or a shop with BNW computer can access that number. Could be used for warranty claims?

lol what do you think they are gonna deny warranty for a option thats built into the car.. thats like saying if your power window motor died they could say well maybe you used it too much :P
I have had modded cars all my life never once had issues with warranty work.. had to transmissions replaced .. one in a mazda protege5 one in a camaro both cars had intakes, one had a tune etc.. in saying that .. I'm not adding dos to the engine here.. if they didn't want us to use launch control and if its sooooo bad for the car ... why even have it as a option... i agree its prob best to wait for the brake in period which ill soon be out of .. rolled over 1200 today... |

http://yel.pca.org/porsche-engine-break-in/ You should avoid beating on it until it is broken in. The dealership doesn't give a damn about you after they make the sale, they'll beat the hell out of the car just to sell it (which some other guy will buy). I guess you're saying fawk that guy too? Look at the threads about oil burning, etc. Breaking in an engine is very critical. |

Only reason I ask is because i tried a couple times before and somehow screwed up the tach trying to engage LC in my 2015/16 228xi after driving it for over a year. The tach wouldn't properly display my rpms.... Had to have it warrantied... Is it because there's no LC on the 2015/16 models? Can't quite grasp how trying to engage LC broke the tach tho

And thanks for reminding me why I try to never buy a car off the lot, even with just a few dozen miles on it. |

You just have to go through all the steps to make it work. Including oil being up to operating temp and the car has to be driven at least 6 miles. I think it's 6 miles but my memory could be wrong about the number of miles. |

as someone who tends to own cars beyond 100K+ miles, i sort of agree, but then again...why not an italian tune-up once a year?

Not only for the m235i. My 2016 228i xdrive definitely has it, the white flag and so on.
