can you give more details for your thumbs up ? I live in northern Chgo. suburbs.

How are they in dry if you have had a chance to test? Which RFs did your car come equipped with ?

I have the Pirelli Rfs and I want to get them off the car for non RF tires.
My car 2016 M235IX has 10K miles but I am thinking of ditching the Rfs in spring.

I have Michelins on all my other cars Michelins but have also had good luck with Conti DSWs on my wifes former G37X. She is now driving my former 2013 335 on Michelin Ice 3 snows and I have a set of MPSS for summer.

P car had Pirelli Rossos but now on MPSS ( much better)

agree with OP 100%. Excellent a/s tires if you're in the market. had a version of them since 2014 on my rx8. tirerack has some nice charts and comparisons. check it out.

I have the A/S 3+ on the Club Sport; I actually plan to run them year round since I've retired the car from track use. I'd definitely use them as winter tires on my 2er if I had to drive it below 40F.

FWIW I have the DWS06's on my 435 xdrive and the pilot sport +3's on my wife's m235 xdrive.
When the time comes for replacement tires on my car I will be going with the Michelin's.
They are by far a better ride quieter & wet/snow traction.

Another vote for these, which have been on my 228i for about 6K miles now and performed awesomely during last March's 3,500-mile Appalachia blast. (Yes, I drove the Tail of the Dragon, as well as a few other hyper-twisty roads, on 'em).

Another point in the PS A/S 3+'s favor: tread life. I've easily got another 20k in mine. As a counterpoint, my BFG Potenza run-flat summers lasted about 8K miles.

I've said this in other threads: The A/S 3+s have about 95 percent of the grip of a comparable summer tire. Bank on it.

When my OE PSS are worn, I plan on replacing them with PS A/S 3+ in 235 front and 255 rear, on the OE staggered wheels.
I don't track my car. So, even though I live in Florida, I don't think the extra traction is worth the reduced tread wear and temperature/weather limitations.
I have Conti DSW06s on my wife's GTI and they're great, but I think the A/S 3+ is a better choice for my car.

edit: shouldn't this thread be in the tires and wheels forum?

235 and 255 width tires won't fit the OEM rims, at least it's not advised to do so.

I'm thinking of something less aggressive when Spring comes, but probably wouldn't go all the way to all weathers, since I have a winter set of wheels and tires.

I just went with these on my M240Xi. Car came with the pirelli run flats. They were a poor excuse for a tire. Great security if that's what you're going for, but handling in any scenario was just ok at best. The AS3+ is a phenomenal tire. I've had other iterations of the tire on my 335i and Audi S4 I used to own. Never regretted Michelin's for a second. Finally got a bit of snow in the DC area last week. Man, did she do well with these tires on.

I have been running A/S 3+ for over a year. Great tire and are lasting much longer than my stock PS.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm aware of that, but it is only 1 size above "recommended" range. It will be fine. It might even help reduce the amount of outer shoulder wear on the fronts.

The tires you're considering aren't designed to fit the OEM wheel widths, meaning they're too wide and outside of manufacturer design criteria. Most tire shops will not mount tires if they don't meet wheel width design criteria.

Like brake pads, less wear equals less performance. You can't have both.

Philosophically correct, but compared to what? For anything other than summer only tires such as PSS, AS3+ are quite outstanding and provide wide temperature variation capability!

I picked my 16 M235IX on 11/21/17 so the weather in Midwest has not allowed for too many handling/tire tests. Really not needed since I hate all runflats and have taken them off 2 Minis and our 335i ( now MPSS and Mich. Ice3 in winter) within first 10K miles.

RFs and elec. steering are the 2 worst things that have happened to modern performance cars ( BMW in particular) IMHO. Getting "real" tires is easy, fixing the steering feel, not so easy.

The steering on the 235 is the only thing I can place in the debit column. Hoping the Michelins help a little there.

Having once owned a performance car without power steering and now the 06 911 with great hydraulic steering, I am very unhappy with the trend to EPS. Hopefully they will figure out a way to regain real steering feel but I have yet to feel hydraulic like steering even in current (991 series) Porsches.

On some of the newest, mostly more expensive vehicles, they are getting there. Providing very good feel with EPS. It'll trickle down to more common cars soon enough. But then you'll have to worry about those electric engines

Exactly why I will keep my "old tech" 911 until I can no longer drive it.

NA, hydraulic steering, 3 pedals.

The TurnerMotorsport M2 LCA swap helps nicely!

I used AS3+ on my previous car (2011 TL awd). it was great tire overall. both dry and wet
(I literally avoided a possible accident because of this tire.)

HOWEVER, snow traction was poor for sure. it was manageable but not great.
(tirerack did snow test with UHP tires, DWS was the best by big margin)

IF snow traction is important, I would suggest DWS 06. If not, AS3+ all the way.
