First I would like to give a big shout out to everyone over at IND their products are of the highest quality!

So I have been wanting a tow strap pretty much for like 5 years going back to my e92. So with my new car I have been working on some Aero Pieces(which I will have to update you all at a later date when They are completed to my liking) So I thought I would be able to pull off the tow strap hanging like a tongue when Im out on the street.

I Named this thread you have to learn the hard way, because when I was in contact with Cat@ind I was informed that the tow strap would fit, I mean its 14x1.25 thread pitch but the tow cover its self would be a tight squeeze due to the Fall line motorsport tow strap was designed for a F8x and that the F22 bumper support is farther out and closer to the opening in the bumper. Haven't seen anyone with one besides some of the Tuningwerk race cars so I knew there was probably a reason!

Problem is I did not want to run the tow strap on the street without a tow hook cover with the slot in it. I say this for two reason, One I think it hangs out way to far and looks a bit awkward, which can be fixed by tucking the bottom in and gives a good length. My next concern would be that someone would touch/steal it without the cover seeing how simple it is to remove. At least with the cover it would give someone the idea that its harder then it looks to remove? maybe not but I told myself that.

So What did I end up with?

When I received the Fall line motorsport tow strap From IND and cover
It was pretty easy to see I was not going to be able to get this cover to close.
My only other options would be to get 2-3 threads milled off , which would get the cover to fit, but would still hang very low. Also milling the tow strap would possibly compromise the strength integrity and tow load of the strap, and I did not want that.

So I went ahead and ordered a "BMW Motorsport Tow Strap" (thats what I googled) from Turner motorsport, Bimmerworld had them also but turner was cheaper! So even that wasn't straight forward I had to modify, I mean cut the new strap to fit and hang through. Yes its purely cosmetic in this form but its not a total lose since I still will use the fall line motorsport one for actual towing.

Everything together

Fall Line Tow Strap Metal piece comes all the way to the edge

Looks Better Folded Under Just Because Its Very Long, If You Don't Mind With Out A Cover This Would Be Fine! But Not For Me

So The Turner strap couldn't be folded in the tow hole (idk what its called) but I expected that so I cut it

Then I sewn it closed probably didn't have todo this but wanted to, which I regretted since I had to cut some more off.

As you can see its a bit too wide but it squeezes in which is good so it doesn't move.

Installed in the cover after taking some more off

Installed! Ill post some more installed from further away

Hopefully this can help to shed some light on an otherwise untouched subject for the f2x platform! Any Questions I'll do my best to answer

Thanks for reading!

Your pictures are not showing up. You need to remove all the extra text in the picture links except for the as I did for one above!

Good luck I was having some trouble the other day, too.

Kudos for your efforts. I think you may have answered the question that no one has asked.

My thoughts are, I wonder if it's too short to be functional and, I wonder if it would hold under pressure since you cut and sewed it yourself?

If it's just for a look then it's cool, but if you track your car I think you should test it. Hopefully you already have.

Non functional tow hook for decor in my mind is like putting in a roll cage that's made out of plastic - but to each his own.

The Alcantara wheel is a nice touch.

Lolz haha I agree tho there is no other option for use of the cover. I did not modify the fall line motorsports one which I plan on using at the track , hopefully don't find myself needing a tow in the first place!

Thanks about the steering wheel after using it for a few weeks I would recommend it !

I think that could be it but atleast if there are any perspective buyers (now or future)of the fall line motorsports tow strap and ind painted cover now know what they are getting into when it comes to the f22!

The one I have on the car that I cut is for the look, the real function one can not be run with the cover so it's in my glove box, I will save its use for the track or if I need a tow

Also thanks I love the steering wheel!

Could you tell me which cap you used for this? I can't find one with a cutout for the strap for our cars. Thanks!
