Switching forums for a few months - thanks!

I have been planning to buy the M235 for some time but held out for the M2 update. I tested and came close to buying an S2000, 911 (996 Turbo), and an e92 over the last year but held out...

Until I came across an e46 M3 MT coupe, 30K miles (15K on the engine - rod bearing issue), single owner (68yr old), all service records in a binder, and I am pretty sure he stepped out of the car to fart.

I figured I could drive the M3 until I decide between the 235 and the 2 next year then sale the e46. But wow; this is the perfect car for me. I've got some maintenance issues to address soon and maybe a CSL intake modification (some track tires, brakes...), but I otherwise I am not sure what more I could want!

I appreciate all the solid advice from everyone here; I may even be back here next year

Don't ever intend to trash such a car - it's a gem slowly raising in value as we speak.

Agreed. I originally planned to track it, but now it feels a bit too special to beat up on the track. Maybe its time for a Miata?

And thanks for the PM Midwest! Since I have the ability to keep this as a third car, I thought I would give it a shot.

Congrats! In some ways you really bought the better car and depending on your purchase price, I doubt you'll get much depreciation in the next couple of years. Those Ti silver M3s are real beauties.

Not sure but I think I was on the money at $25K? It might have been high by $2K but it has had zero prior mods which I see as a benefit. Two similar examples recently sold on the forums for ~ $29K, so...?

Nice car! And it looks like you found a great replacement with the 235 which has to get better mpg (?); I have averaged 16mpg over that last couple of weeks.

Wow. I don't think the M235i is nearly as fun as any E46 M3. It's STILL my dream car. I always tell myself that one day I'll get a pristine one like yours!
