Misfire @ ~100+MPH

Hey folks.

BMS JB4 Stage 2
Map 2 @ 91 Octane (Don't judge me lol)
ER Charge Pipe
ER 4" Catless
M Perf exhaust

No codes thrown, but butt-dyno notices an inconsistent pull.

Car went into limp (Drivetrain Malf) one time, but never saved a code (on car or JB4).

I'm assuming I need to change spark plugs?

Thinking NGK N20's. What have some of you switched to?

Assuming my ignition coils are okay

Don't mind changing those as well, just want to take it step my step.

Can attach logs later, tomorrow after work.

Cheers!

You'll get some logs advice from more experienced ppl than on this forum and you're able to upload csv file on n54tech.

I'll bet you they'll start off by saying map2 is prob too aggressive for your low octane

how much gas did you have in the tank?

If less than a quarter tank, the gas will slosh around to the back while on it hard, car will throw a CEL go into limp with drivetrain malf because no fuel got to the pump.

Guy has issue with car. Runs Map 2 on 91. Asks us not to judge.

Okay then.

I can almost promise you that upgrading coils will not help your inconsistency. Change your map and re log the car.

Just do everyone a favor and get off the thread.

Just looking for some quick spark plug advice (if anyone's in the same boat I am) not looking to upgrade coils. Maybe you could take the time to actually read the post without being rude?

I run Map2 because I enjoy pushing the car. Get over it.
Map1 isn't spectacular , and Map5 auto tune is totally bogus.
Sometimes I go higher, sometimes I don't. I'm running 91 since I'm commuting so much right now.

Don't need your attitude here, child.

I meant to say plugs too. Changing plugs will not solve your issue either.

Your car boost level is too high for your fuel and your car doesn't like it, neither of which will be changed by changing to N20 plugs nor coils, plain and simple.

Either way you need to post a log or no one can help you.

I think he stated the obvious due to you already knowing that 91oct. Is not sufficient for that map. Burger Tuning advises 93oct. or a mix E85/meth for map 2. Its understandable you want to push the car but there is a fine line when crossing the safe point. Pushing the car safely is the key. You are not pushing the car safely according to tuners and a very good possibility that the car is notifying you of this unsafe condition. I would heed the advise and increase octane and or lower have a custom tune. You could have multiple issues right now and very well could be plug related but just the fact that your octane is not sufficient throws a red flag. You could be damaging the plugs prematurely due to detonation or a number of other factors. When you pull the plugs they may tell you quite a bit.

To add, i believe Luminous and a few others are on stock ignition other than plugs making 550+WHP. Dont think thats an issue.

Sounds good. I'll remix fuel and make a log after my car gets serviced.
Cheers!

I have purchased the M3-M4-M2 plugs but not yet installed. Cannot give any feedback on them. I do know there are others running them

I've been on the s55 plugs for a little less than a year without any issues.

Ppl say the ngk n20s are better, i have not seen anything to back this up.
When its time to change them, I will go the n20 route tho.

NGK N20 plugs are far superior!
In what ways are they superior...? N20's are 2 steps colder than N55 plugs correct..? I was under the impression that S55 plugs were one step Colder than N55's. I always thought plug choice was relevant to application. Curious to hear your findings.

I've considered this as an option as well, but I think I'll lean toward the N20's.
Been reading good things.

Side note, no issues in cold weather.
So, I guess it's time for an FMIC.
