New M235i owner! Scratch already??

Picked up my M235i a few weeks ago and having so much fun it might be a little too much. Coming from an 02 Camry, not used to the power behind this yet. Excited to see what will come of it!!

As a side note, I was cleaning my car last night and I noticed a scuff mark on the right rear bumper. Not sure how I got it but any tips on how to remove it would be greatly appreciated!

I would attach a pic but right now my phone is not letting me click the attachment link. Thanks in advance!

Buff it out with wax.

Wax may not be abrasive either through mechanical scrubbing or chemical action.
You may need isopropyl alcohol or a polish like Meguiars Scratch-X.
But since you should always start with the least agressive method, a wash then wax should be the first step.

Get Quixx 00070-US Paint Scratch Remover Kit. (available on Amazon):
http://www.amazon.com/Quixx-00070-US...ct_top?ie=UTF8

I had a 4" scratch (easy to see and feel with finger nail) in my rear bumper and the Quixx 2 step process took it right out.
The scratch was through the clear coat, but not to the base coat.
I did a lot of research before I picked this product and it's the only one which will remove scratches.

I disagree. I own a detailing business and use many good polishes on my vehicles. Most of them remove scratches depending on the severity of it. There are other products such as compounds and when used with a rotary polisher will even remove deeper scratches. Buy some Meguiar's polish not compound at your local auto supply store and use a microfiber cloth to apply and buff. Good luck and great choice. I can only imagine the thrill of going from a Camry to this.

You need to do more research. Plenty of products remove scratches.

There are any number of non-abrasive and abrasive products that will remove scratches. Meguiar's makes many different scratch removers for example. Their cleaning waxes will remove extremely fine scratches. For slightly deeper scratches, the Scratch-X product that Scott mentioned is a good one. For deeper scratches, they have the #2 Fine Cut Cleaner, the #3 Medium Cut Cleaner, and the #4 Heavy Cut Cleaner. And then they have the compounds that professional detailers and body shops use.

My son borrowed my previous motorcycle, which was in pristine condition, and he attached a magnetic tank bag on the tank to carry some stuff. After he removed the bag, I noticed the tank was full of fine scratches left by grit that was on his tank bag. I removed all of them by hand in about 20 minutes with Scratch-X and #2 Fine Cut Cleaner.

Congrats on the new car! I probably would have gone with the Mineral White rather than Alpine White if it didn't cost more.

Not according those who have tested deeper scratches which you can feel with your fingernail (which is what I was referring to - not fine scratches or swirls which you cannot feel with your fingernails).
According to the testers (including Consumer Reports- see below), only Quixx will remove those deeper scratches.

I should have clarified. For deep scratches which you can feel with your finger nail (which is what I had), then yes I could have gone to a detailing shop which has all the compounds, polishes and rotary polisher to remove deeper scratches OR I could spend $15 and get the Quixx scratch remover at Walmart or Amazon and fix the scratch myself in 10 minutes.
I'm not aware of any other product like that available.

If it makes you feel better I scratched my own car after I picked it up from the dealership. I have a single car garage and my prior 3 series could open the door all the way without hitting the wall. The 2 series with the longer door, not so much.

I probably stared at it for about 5 minutes without moving. I was able to buff it out in the end though.

If you've got a decent relationship with either a detailer or body shop they should be able to buff it out for you in 5 mins NC.

If that product removes the scratch to your satisfaction then go for it and good luck.

Not only to my satisfaction, but after the Quixx treatment, I challenged my wife to find where the original scratch was and even though she had seen the scratch before the treatment and knew area where the scratch should be, she could not see any evidence of the original scratch.
That said, she does wear prescription glasses..

Firstly, nice ride and congrats.

I hope it wasn't the damn dealer.

Secondly, research doesn't consist of just Amazon or Wikipedia. Jk jk

Thanks for the input guys. I haven't had time to get to it yet, but here is the scratch. After skimming thru the comments I'll try to buff it out with wax myself first before I spend more than I need to.
