I'd say it's to save tires during their testing. That or the track was still wet from previous testing by the time they were ready to shoot

Ultimately it's still a donut contest. Real drifting is far from what's depicted in the video, and I'm betting a good driver will vastly outperform the computer there, for the time being.

Imagine a D1 competition where judges judge the driverless cars based on the robots/software installed on the drift car.
Commentator: "Up next is team blah blah with the xdx1 software installed..." Nope. Not happening! |
