Me personally, I would learn to do the work myself because that’s a lot of $. But I would recommend posting this in the brakes forum to get more help.

Yeah that price is pretty excessive. I'd expect a shop to charge about ~$1500 for the front and rear pads and rotors to be replaced with the brake fluid flush. Parts should be about 800-1000 for OE parts (Zimmermann).

It's about right if you're having a shop do the work and you're replacing with OEM BMW parts.

I find it extremely hard to believe that the rear rotors are done. 70% of the braking power comes from the front. I'd ask them to show you exactly why they think the brakes are done. Did they actually measure the rotor thickness and look at the pads? Are they truly at the end of their life? Did the brake pad replacement light come on? That light comes on when the pad wear sensors is tripped.

My 2016 M235 with 71K miles, which I drive pretty hard, is still on its original rear pads and rotors which both have lots of life left. I replaced the front rotors, pads, and wear sensors at 62K miles and they probably could have gone another 5-10K miles. I did all the work myself, which is easy, for around $600 using all BMW parts. My freaking 13 y/o daughter did the passenger side pads and rotors after watching me do the driver's side if that gives you any idea how easy it is to do. Tons of YT videos out there showing this work being done with basic hand tools.

I believe it cost me 800 for upgraded parts and about 2 hours in the driveway, brakes are a easy DIY.

Bro you should check out your rear rotors for cracks. I think I had around 70-72k miles when i finally replaced the oem rear rotors and they had considerable amounts of cracking on in inside portion of the rotor hats. Not sure how serious cracking can be but just a heads up especially if you drive it hard

Also , fyi those rear caliper bolts are a bear to remove if it's your first time. Some people recommend heating them or using high torque impact to remove.

Yep. Thanks. my rotors are still crack free and measure within spec. I drive hard, but tend not to be super hard on the brakes. I imagine I'll get around 100K out the rear brakes based on how they've been wearing.

For breaking the bolts free, I have a 3 foot breaker as well as MAP gas and a cheater bad if needed. I've gotten pretty lucky as I've never had any issues breaking fasteners loose on my M235 and I've had lots of exhaust, suspension, and brake stuff off at various times.

They literally didn't even fill out the invoice properly unfortunately so I highly doubt they even have any record. I'll just check myself soon.
