Very nice, and as a fellow M Performance Brake Kit Owner, I'd like to thank you for posting!

I don't think that having matching front and rear rotors really matters all that much, and that you've made the right choice.

Installed a VRSF charge pipe yesterday. I was able to do to it without removing the IC too, although I have bruises all over my arms from working in the tight engine bay. Used a bread knife to cut out the OEM pipe, making the overall job much easier.

The dimples and slots are mainly cosmetic, aren't directional and as far as I know don't do anything for performance but do make an annoying ticking noise when driving next do a barrier on the highway. I have them on my F31 but won't be getting another set when they're due for replacement.

The calipers are the best part of that set, worth getting for that upgrade and do stainless lines, Motul fluid while you're at it. When rotors and pads are due you can shop around...

My understanding is that the slots may improve cooling, if one heats brakes to the degree that it matters. It also reduces effective braking surface and increases pad wear. When the time comes, I plan to stay with solid rotors.

In general I think you're right, for BMW kit specifically I was told by Thompson that the slots and dimples aren't really deep enough to matter much. The noise is annoying enough that I'd skip them next time for that reason alone. I am not an expert though, just relaying what I was told.

For those with blue brakes IMO upgrade lines, fluid and pads. If you've got the lower spec crappy grey ones then yes the BBK makes sense, knowing when things wear out you may swap in some aftermarket bits while keeping the calipers.

Do you know of any plain 370X30 rotors that fit? I looked and couldn't find them. Had I been able to, I would have gone plain front and rear. The dimpled and slotted units are just a minor bit of eye candy.

BMW part 34106797606 should be plain 370x30 rotors that fit, as opposed to the dimpled and slotted 34106797603.

I tried specifying for my 2015 with MSport brakes. I've used Centric before on other cars with good outcomes.

Not MPerformance, but of interest to the topic.

Folks,

This may be sacrilegious; however, I was planning on getting rotors when I do my brakes on the M235 from Rock Auto. They have a couple of good non-slotted and un-drilled / dimpled options for both the M235 and M240. I have not had any issues with their products in the past for brake work on my BMW's.

Wherever you get them, consider this:

Dimpled, slotted or plain, you should go with two piece rotors with aluminum hats. The weight difference is not insignificant!

Rock Auto sell Brembo and Pagid 2-piece rotors which I would use, but as others have said, the single piece rotors may not be a good substitute due to not being equivalent to the original BMW design.

Used BM3 to shut off active sound. Just not a huge fan of the piped in noise. The engine sounds great on its own.

Wash & Wheel Clean

Gave it a good wash for the first time since getting the new wheels. Before I put them on I gave it like 3 coats of some spray on ceramic coating. I'm sure most all of these products are pretty similar, but this is what I used and seems to be working great. It has been about 6 weeks of daily driving since I put the wheels on and I haven't touched them since. All I did was spray them down. I took a video showing them but realized you can't really embed videos on here (at least that I know how to do) and didn't feel like uploading to youtube and linking... so here are some screen grabs lol. Little to no dust after spraying them off. And I'm talking a quick easy spray. Pretty happy! I was thinking I was crazy for putting these wheels on with stock pads because they looked like a PITA to clean.

Those wheels do look as though they'd take quite a bit of work to clean thoroughly if the brake dust was sticky. Glad to hear that your coating is doing such a good job for you.

You're in CT right? You should 100% get any consumables from FCP Euro. They will give you lifetime free replacements. For brakes sometimes it doesn't work out with shipping but since you can drop off you can literally buy rotors once and have them for free for life.

Today I mounted a set of Ferric Grey 436 wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ on them. As it doesn't snow much here, and I only drive the car when it's dry out, I plan on running these tires over the winter months. My winter set of BBS SR 17X7½ ET35 in Bright Silver with 225/45-17 Michelin X-Ice Xi3 will be listed later this week.

As an aside, the A/S 3+ are being closed out and are now $588 delivered from Tire Rack. I paid $210 more for mine last year.

My summer tires are on the Orbit Grey 436s that came with the car. They're a better look for the Estoril Blue, I think, but the Ferric Greys don't look at all unattractive.

I got the Ferric Greys one year ago from stlb5; this is their first time on the car. I had the wheels ceramic-coated at a local detailing shop and am hoping that makes cleaning easier than it would otherwise be. <fingers-crossed>

I finally got my car back! Longest week of the year I swear. The good news is it's looking and running great with fresh new timing stuffs. Apparently the old ones were already coming apart in what can only be described as rapid unplanned disassembly. Here's to several more trouble free years!

Just ordered an MST Turbo Inlet Pipe, to go along with the downpipe, charge pipe, and FMIC. Plugs and coils have been replaced recently, so once all the parts get here & installed, I'll get BM3 flashed.
