Im actually putting the m235i M Performance diffuser and Muffler on my 228i tomorrow. Ill probably do another thread and ill post the conversion if i get a chance to snap some pics.

Isn't this for the M235i?

Or you guys will have some adapter to make it fit on 228i?

Any updated info on exhaust options for the 228i? Dinan or BMW? I'm dying to change it out... coming from a 335is, this car is brutally quiet.

My cheat sheet of development projects surprisingly does list the exhaust for a 228i as 'planned' (honestly wasn't expecting it to be there) but I haven't seen a 228i development car in the shop so it's safe to say its quite a ways off yet. Minimum of 3 months out, probably longer as I don't know where that falls in the list of priorities.

Have you tried looking into the F30 328 exhaust options? I know there's a member that posted earlier with a F30 328 MPE and all he had to do was modify/cut a small portion. I plan to take this route as well, though, with an Eisenmann or something comparable.

Also, keep an eye out for the Arqray Exhaust. I saw their test videos for the 228 just a few months back

I'm running a M135 OEM exhaust with a resonator delete. Not super loud but noticeable and makes an angry crackling sound when upshifting

Hi Everyone,

I am the only user on here using a F30 328i M Performance exhaust on my 228i M-Sport, it was a very easy install and took 30min to have it all done.

I have attached my page link and some videos of it. Its a nice clean sound not crazy loud.

Thanks,

I love the sound of the 328 exhaust you fitted on your car, but I'd still rather spend that much for a direct-fit that needs no cutting. It may come down to that though if a Dinan or BMW option isn't released by late spring/early summer next year.

The M performance and the Dinan exhaust both require cutting for every other vehicle that they've made exhaust systems for so I'm sure the 228i will be no different.

You are right both exhaust systems require some exhaust cutting for fitment. I just welded mine because I didn't want to use a clap. I will be doing a res delete in the spring to make it a little louder, I like the M Performance exhaust because it has the butterfly valve so you can make it quite when its in comfort mode.

This is what it sounds like.

Thanks,

Anyone put in a generic straight through muffler to replace the stock muffler? If so, what did you do with the exhaust valve actuator?
