Placed my order for a xDrive M235i yesterday.

Finally decided to place my order for an xDrive M235i yesterday. Fully loaded in Estoril Blue.

xDrive makes sense for me where I live given it's on the side of a big hill. I had a 135i cab before and in the snow it was tough getting up the hill even with good snows all around. I used to have to take the DSC off completely and gun it going almost sideways counter-steering in a controlled manner to get up hill.

I've test driven the M235i and hopefully the dynamics won't change too much on the xDrive model but we'll see.

Production begins in July and hopefully I'll see it end of August. I was told I was the third one to place an order for my dealership (#1 volume dealer in Canada).

Definitely looking forward to getting back into something smaller from the X3 I'm driving now.

Yah, I'm waiting for xDrive as well on ther 2er.
I'm planning to replace my 1er cabrio with the m235i Cabrio which is supposed to be coming out late this fall.
I'm just hoping that xDrive will be available from SOP on the cabrios as my 3 yr extended warranty expires March 2015.
If not, I may have to settle for an A3 or S3 cabrio.

xDrive can only be obtained with auto tranny, correct? That blows it for me.

Has XDrive been confirmed for the 2 series ? Source? I'm assuming it will be a 2015 model year.

I think model year 2015 starts in July 2014. So, this would be a 2015 car.

It's been widely reported.
Production of the 228i and M235i xDrive variants will begin July 2014.

Although I'm not a big fan of x-drive for a coupe - it costs too much, adds extra weight, and surprisingly doesn't improve the handling in snow vs. snow tires that much - nevertheless it is not that intrusive, as it will give u the feeling of a rear-wheeler pretty much and won't raise the ride height much at all, and ergo rest assured it won't change the driving dynamics too much. Then again, BMW is always improving the x-drive technology year-by-year and maybe my experience with x-drive is wrong or outdated. My best advice is if u want x-drive then get x-drive and enjoy the hell out of the car, and forget what others (even I) think LOL. Congrats on the new car!

Thanks, although it was fun getting up initially it becomes a bit of pain at other times.

The latest xDrive's are way better than they used to be. Back in the E46 days it wasn't very good. Now it's far more performance oriented but it does still add weight for sure. At least the latest generation xDrive's are far better than Quattro.

My 428xDrive did very well in snow here in Colorado. I even took it to the mountains on powder days and it hasn't missed a beat.

I have the sport trim though and I don't know how the lower bumper and more aggressive fascia of M cars would fare in snow...

My best guess is as long as ice doesn't form it shouldn't be a problem. Even then if ice does form, if you get it going it'll melt/break off. That's on the air vents as for the lower bumper, I can only imagine.

I lived in buffalo so I can see where your concern would be. I think it should be okay for the most part anyway. My family's 750Li has had no major problems and only gotten stuck one or twice in a rear wheel drive configuration.

Did your dealership give you any info on std or optional equipment changes for 2015?

No, they didn't. He didn't even have the pricing yet. I've just got my car secured. He's not even sure that it'll be a MY2015.

Has to be a 2015 if xDrive. Yes there are some drawbacks but also benefits of adding. That said it's an infinitely better setup than the S3s and CLAs of the world which are based on FWD architecture.

This news made me upset at first as RWD was my only 'compromise' in getting this car over the S3/CLA45 AMG until I read that it's only available in automatic anyways.
