strange suspension noise
i just picked up the car yesterday and i started hearing weird click sounds when i pressed the break once in a while. also when i go over bumps is would make weird clicking noise as if something was loose.
i think I've read a thread here a while ago about something being inside the springs and the port forgetting to take it out or something? |

kerm1t did you ever figure out what the clicking sound was? I have the same thing when I put the car in drive or reverse.
It's very easy to replicate. By shifting from D to R. When the suspension compresses or expands I hear the clicking. I was thinking it might be something in my differential since I got the limited slip.

Brake pads shifting as part of the floating calipers. It is fairly common on BMW's... Feel free to google around.

That's what I thought originally, but I don't think that's actually it. This happens on let off the throttle without me touching the brakes or excelerating. Again no break.
I've owned a number of different BMWs and I have never had this issue before. I'm hoping it's a heatshield that wasn't put back in its proper place when they installed the LSD.

Had clicking coming from the front brakes whenever I turned the wheel left or right. I was able to replicate this for the SA and they ended up replacing the front brake pads and rotors. Noise went away.

I thought the M Performance brakes did not use a floating caliper design.

The shipping blocks in the suspension have been known to be left on occasionally. You should be able to look inside the wheel well and see if there looks to be a big plastic block of something on the strut - you can google "BMW shipping blocks" to see what they look like.

That would be scary. As I already have 1350 miles driven between Europe and here.
Taking it in on Wednesday to find out what the deal is. If anybody has any information I would love to hear it. Thanks.

You can see the shipping blocks yourself, just look inside the wheel well.
