liking what i see here. maybe i will be getting this car instead of the m4 - since it seems like this car will be the successor-in-spirit to the original m3... lighter weight, compact, and hopefully dialed in & performance oriented.

I miss my E92 M3 with DCT everyday
But not going to cry about driving and X3, it's a great little ED..However, when this lease is up (if I don't go X4 for utility reasons) I can really see myself going 235xi or M2 The 3 has gotten too big for me and the 5 is a beautiful hiway cruiser but hardly toss-able...

The 235 is going to be a great little car. Too bad no DCT.

No DCT sucks but it should be available in "M" version?
The sport auto is a pretty decent tranny too..I'm in stop/go traffic too much for 3 pedals I just hope it doesn't have a "cheap" feel to the interior..

Man, this car looks so much better than the 4 series it's kind of baffling me. Something about the shorter/smaller dimensions and lines (?) that makes the front/hood not look as hideous as it does on the 4.
If anything gets me out of my E92 it's going to be this car or the M2 (meaning, if the M2 looks even better than this, which it should, I will be in that car). This is the only series coming out that I am getting excited about.

Of course they will. Just like the M3/4 won't outperform the M5/M6, so the M2 won't outperform the M3/4.

The M235i and M2 are probably closer to an evolution of the e92 in that regard.

They could but they won't, BMW NA is dead I'm afraid . I will be keeping my Z4M forever. But you can get a NA 6 cylinder that revs to 9K and has 475 HP with a Dual clutch ......... Thank god for Porsche still making drivers cars .

I'd rather the grill slats were more vertical... but that's the only opinion I have for now.. I wasn't stunned by the red one spotted virtually undisguised, but I'll reserver jusdgement to I've seen one in the flesh.

The M2 deserves more than 4 cyls. With or without turbo(s).
I really hope BMW doesn't take a page from the P-car playbook: Rule #1: Protect the anointed but detuning the superior chasis. |
