So will the M2 be four seats ala 1M and M-Two 2 seats (in other words a Z4M with fixed roof)?

Well I really hope the 330d is brilliant as I've got a manual one on order and went with the 30d over the 35d simply because after my S5 I wanted a manual box again. Will be here shortly so I'll put my thoughts in then.

Not to mention, the iconic M3 coupe will now be a M4. Unless they don't play by their own rules. And end up with a 3 series sedan, 4 series coupe, and M3 coupe with no M4. Also, if this new M3 is going to be revolutionary how the hell are they going to fit in development time for a M2 before 2014? I'd rather they stay focused and deliver a M3 with all that great CFRP tech.

It just feels overly forced. Not to mention poeple less informed will get confused between a 3 series - A4, 4 Series - A5, 5 series - A6.

Agree with this!!!

I will go into further detail later...

It is not an Aventador rival per se. But it stems from the strategy I talked about previously regarding BMW M and M-One and M-Two.
M-One was the larger sports car concept utilising the V8 or Six Cylinder and was aimed directly at the Mercedes-Benz SLSAMG/SLC? , Porsche 911 and Audi R8.
M-Two was the smaller proposed Cayman/Boxster competitor.

Both projects are being considered in light of BMW making greater use of the M-Sub brand. BMWi will feature BMWi Specific projects the i3 and i8 initially and they are not created from BMW's. BMW M is considered to be the division that brings out the higher peformance BMW's. But now BMW would like BMW M to stand on it's own two feet as well as BMWi and are considering two stand alone concepts developed and engineered under BMW M. Meaning there will be no accompanying BMW.
Pure M. Although we are still discussing and finding our feet to decide which one gets priority and how we can bring it to production and of course cost effectively.

To help fund these two cars , you will see the expansion of the M-brand and given that @ BMW the X5M and X6M are considered "Volume" sellers , BMW will open up the SAV market to accomodate the BMW X3M and the BMW X1M. Both expected to be volume sellers especially for those that want a high performance Compact or Mid-Sized SAV. Both BMW X3M and BMW X1M will launch the powerplants that will feature under the next generation BMW M3 and M2 models in Six cylinder and four cylinder respectively.

It's great to hear that BMW is considering a 6-cylinder for the M2. I thought they previously confirmed that the F2X M car would be a turbo-4 and the F3X M car would be a turbo (most likely tri-turbo) 6.

Does that mean that the new M3 will retain a V8?

I (& many others here) really don't care about SUVs, SAVs, etc.. just coupe or hatchback in the United States. It is very daunting task trying to acquire a proper BMW here in the United States. I would go so far as to say, the experience with the 1M has been "exhausting".

So (again), with the limited run of the M Coupe, which this fall will leave a vacuum in it's wake.. what can we order next summer...? thats is small & tossable?

A used 1M coupe ?
I'm not Scott, but i'll try to think out loud for a minute, if i may?

The new one series, should be here as a 2012 model, usually that means the convertible and coupe (2 series) is here around 2013, the M versions of those, is not here earlier than two years after the initial launch of the 1 series, which means around 2014.
The new M3/M4 should be here around that time also i guess.
But reckon the X3M and X1M would he here first, along with F11M.
Seems M have enough project the next few years.

Seeing the sucsess the 1M has, it should've been made at least another year imo.

No V8 for the M3 or X3M . The advent of a new high tech Six Cylinder means better efficiency and less weight to contend with regarding the drivetrain.
Both X3M and X1M will be the "launch pad" for the new M3 and M2.

Both M3 and M2 Coupe's will launch in 2014 respectively.

M2 will use a variant of the Six Cylinder but cut down to four cylinders but will remain the more powerful option in the 2er family.
M2 will be less ltd production model than the E82 as it is now destined to be a series production car.

Time was running out with the E82 and that is why the E82 is with us in the twilight of it's life... If only the car was committed to a few years back.

Hi. Can someone confirm re this £7k? What are the support figures for this quarter? I ordered my 330d back in May and it's just going into production now I think. My deal is c£4k off the car and £1.5k from BMW finance. Is this reasonable or am I being had?

Any advice would be great guys?

To illustrate further BMW's sub-brand strategy.

This strategy is called M-One and M-Two. - They are the codenames designated to the two concepts-
M-One is the larger (if you will) successor to the original M1 , and M-Two is the proposed Cayman fighter which I think they are talking about here. They are completely bespoke projects and although based and using powetrains from existing (future) M cars - They will not have a BMW twin. Just as there will not be a BMW i3 or i8 Twin in either BMW or the M Division.

The next BMW M2 - based on the BMW 2er will be a Coupe and Cabrio like before.

Of course in between and to fund these projects which will see BMWi share extensively with BMWM in relation to CFRP material technology.

BMWM are moving further on expansion with the requirement to fund M-One and M-Two with the BMW X3M and BMW M5 Touring now approved and at a BMW project evaluation event earlier this week a prototype BMW X1M. -
Although in a cannibalised form with half of the lower front missing and an experimental four cylinder with some new tricks , 2 lonely exhaust pipes and a wider track it was nothing to look at in this early form. But the sketches of the car in M format really use the design of the X1 especially the surface lines that surround the car to really add mass to the front and rear wheel arches.

BMW X5M and BMW X6M ARE considered within BMW to be "Volume sellers" as they outsell other M variants in the global market. The addition of the BMW X1M and BMW X3M will also bring BMW M another "volume seller" to the global market.

More later....
hey scottt Im just dreaming but nevertheless Ill tell you, BMW should take some clues from the pic below(which shouldnt be too hard as its based on an m3) and mix it with some clues from the m1 orange concept and you have a very fierce looking M-one. please tell M division that we want a very agressive and cool car, not that tech designs BMW is showing with the retro roadster and i8 they showed lately, those although good designs in their own way, wont stand a chance against the agressiveness of the r8.
