While I agree that MB is targeting a different audience than normal, I didn't agree (still don't) when you said that the CLA and 2er don't compete. The A3 sedan, CLA and 2er (well more 2er GC) are aimed right at each other. Can't wait to see

-They are both entry level cars from respective company
- Both will start right at around 30k.

With that regard, you better believe people will be cross shopping them.

You might as well throw in the Honda Accord V6 touring in there.

I do not think the M235i would go against CLA45 AMG because they are not exact rivals, although I am sure the media will put them together.

The true CLA45AMG rival will be the M2 / M2 Gran Coupe.
Because , well that's what it should be.

+1 MB does a fantastic job with the coupe sedan models

I prefer the looks of the CLA by a large margin. Driving dynamics may be a different story though.

I also think the CLA will sell like hotcakes. Your average entry luxury car buyer usually just wants a luxury look from a luxury brand. Take a look at Acura. A rebadged civic and accord with xenons, and people came in waves to buy the TL. If MB prices it right, they will eat up the entry market.

Not sure if you guys have seen this, but a film maker friend of mine is doing a campaign for Mercedes-Benz about the CLA.

Not trying to hate or anything, I own an E90 M3.

Now that we've spied an uncovered 2 Series, let's take a look at how it stacks up visually against what will be one of main competitors - the Mercedes CLA sedan (with Sport package). One may be a coupe and the other a sedan with coupe-like styling, but this is the closest match we have, until the rumored 2 Series Gran Coupe is revealed.

Once the 2 Series official specs and photos are released, we'll put together another comparo comparing official photos, as well as physical specs.

Follow our 2 Series coverage at: http://www.bimmerpost.com/2-series/
This is not a good comparison as the 2 cars are not comparable.
One is a coupe and the other is a sedan.

If a 2 series based sedan comes, or Gran Coupe, then it will warrant a comparison.

This is like comparing a 4 series coupe to a MB C350 sedan.
Not comparable.

I actually really like the CLA. It has a really luxurious look to it. I think everything about it, including the curves and lines just make it a gorges car. That being said. I do have some mixed emotions about its rear. But overall i think it really is a gorges car. But i would still have to go with the bimmer. Mercedes are just to plush for me.

I don't know but anyone here agree with me that the headlights are exaggeratingly thin? This tendency was first applied to the new 3 series and then to the 5 series facelift and now the 2 series! Proportion wise, the headlights look too small compared to the air intakes of the spoiler bellow!
