I was at the Toronto Auto show today, and saw the Terra interior on an X5 and under white indoor light (driver's side of vehicle was exposed to this lighting) it has a slight burgundy hue, but looks browner and better under warmer incandescent lighting (passenger side of vehicle had this type of lighting). I guess Terra will look different depending on the lighting indoors and outside. Leaning towards MW on Terra, w hexagon trim and HB highlight, auto.

Have u decided on a colour combo yet? MW, AW or MG? Terra or black interior? I've ordered but still have some time to change my mind and am really lost.

That color representation in the configurator is pretty misleading. I suspect this was done intentionally for marketing purposes since the darker brown looks more upscale than the lighter color in the photo above.

Terra
LOL... I'm glad my enthusiasm is catching.
I just got off the phone w an 8-year salesman at BMW of Mississauga. He indicates that the "Terracotta interior" was never offered in Canada on the 1 series, but perhaps it was in the USA. In any event, he doesn't think it is the same colour as "Terra" now appearing on the X5 and M235i. He indicates that the Terracotta is likely orangier (as the above pics would seem to confirm). Alas, the above conclusion that Terracotta and Terra are one in the same appears to be wrong. When I was at the autoshow in Toronto, someone had already removed the head rest from a Terra interior X5, and yours truly decided to take it for a little walk to compare it w saddle brown interior on a cabriolet. No question the saddle brown in this particular car was orangier than others I've seen, and much orangier than the Terra. The Terra is a darker shade of brown but does have some sort of very minute reddish/orangish something or other hue to it. All in all I think it is still the best option for those who hate wall-to-wall black interiors, but who knows at this point LOL. |

I know the BMW Config site isn't the best representation of color by a long shot...but I think there is going to be a fairly big difference between "Terra" on some BMWs and "Terra" on others.
Take a look at Terra Nevada leather on the 2015 X1 vs Terra Dakota Leather on the 2014 M235i. The Terra on the X1 acutally appears to be pretty close to the photo of an X1 posted earlier in this string. I HOPE the color is closer to the darker brown shown in the M235i config:

This is my concern with brown interiors. There are so many pics out there of BMW and Audi interiors with brown interiors that look terrible. Only way to know is to see the exact model at the dealer. And even then, there can be slight variances from car to car.
