Advice on M240 ride on 19's

Hi, I'm thinking of buying a M240 coupe with M performance bodykit and 19inch alloys. My question is; how is the ride on 19's without adaptive dampers?

Appreciate your thoughts.

I'm riding on the OEM 19" 624m wheels, with coilovers and non RFT Michelin PSS's and I think it's pretty reasonable. Before I had the coilovers, the car was on the OEM adaptive suspension, and it was a bit less "harsh", but no different than 18" 40 series rubber, in my opinion..

Every time you shrink the sidewall and enlarge the wheel size, impact harshness deteriorates, all other things being equal on your car. That’s just physics. There is less rubber to absorb impact force. The issue is your sensitivity and the quality of your roads. Some feel it, some don’t, and some don’t care. I went the other way with the MAdaptive suspension, replacing 18s with 17s, but I am in Moonchigan driving around craters. BTW, if your 19s are heavier than what you take off, you are directionally going the wrong way for performance...loss of acceleration and fuel economy and longer braking distances, although the differences are usually small.

if you are worried about ride then stay with the smaller wheels

1+. I just gotten the 624M 19 wheels also; they feel way more lighter than the stock 18s.. I was quite surprise when I pulled away from the tire shop how much better the car felt on bigger wheel; I was honestly expecting the opposite..

Stats online show the weight as 3.5 pounds per side lighter than stock wheels (24.7 vs 21.2 lbs). Try the 624M.

I had 18" and 19" OEM wheels on e9x M3's. I actually preferred the 19's overall on those cars. No noticeable compromise in comfort and seemed to handle a little sharper. I don't think this car would be any different. I'm rolling with 18's on the M240i, I just stuck with the size the car with...it's all good.

My car feels great on 19s, in fact there is less understeer with 19 235s on the front than there was stock

Thanks all. It would have the M Performance 19 inchers, so will be fighter than stock. Sounds like there won't be much difference in ride comfort between 18's and 19's so might pull the plug and go for it.

As you wish, of course. One last suggestion...if you have a set of 18s or the car comes with them first, hang on to them until the 19s on are and you've driven around for a while in different conditions. It would be doubly frustrating to have to re-buy a set of 18s wheels and tires if the 19s don't satisfy you.

I think it depends on where you live and how bad the roads are. Initially I didn't think I would use the adaptive much but Ontario and Michigan roads are horrendous so I find I use the feature often. If you're living in Florida or somewhere that doesn't get tore up by winter then maybe you wouldn't need it much.
