Any idea how much this thing is going to cost? With BMWs insane pricing lately, what are we looking at? $75k for top engine, decent spec list? Lolllllll

Further to that, I think that for people to buy this car in the numbers BMW wants it has to hit what I call the three "people" or "ppl" targets. They are

Performance: gotta be a serious contender
Price: no good if only Fortune 500 execs can afford
Looks: gotta be a head turner

A tall order but BMW must know this. Miss one of those and this car is in trouble. Hit all three and it just may be a winner.

Problem is with the first two. To be a contender, it's going to need better performance than current ///M models AND be cheaper. I have a feeling we're going to get a car with around 300hp or whatever, that still costs like $75k+.

I don't see a mass movement of E85/86 and E89 owners ditching their current rides for the G29 any time soon.

You've got that right, for me to drop my Z4M this new thing is going to have to be bonkers. Honestly, the Z4M isn't even worth selling!

Sadly, yes. I say that because I expect current pricing policies (for the mega rich) to continue.

Re your render above, I think the car will have a vent in the front fender similar to that found on the current 4 series. Take a look at how the camo panels on the test mule suggest that.

Yes, and it looks like the only different is the placement of the BMW logo. The prototype looks like it will be right above the center front wheel. I wish there was a higher quality photo of this spy shot.

I don't think there is a very big market for 2 seat roadies, and it is pretty well filled with vehicles. BMW is going to have to pull something special to put a dent in it.

2019 BMW Z4 M Sport Package seen in Spain

Quote:
Another BMW prototype spotted in Spain is the upcoming BMW Z4 Roadster. Slated for a Pebble Beach unveil on August 17th, the Z4 continues its testing trials in high-temperature weather. The Z4 tested on the roads of the south of the Iberian peninsula is equipped with an optional M Sport Package which will clearly bring an extra sporty flair to the roadster.

In this case we find slightly larger tires paired with massive brake discs, an indication of additional power output under the hood. The exhaust tips are located at both ends of the rear bumper under a lower cover that seems to act as a diffuser, instead of the generic bumper we have been able to see so far. In the case of the front bumper the splitter is more evident in the M Sport version, but it is not an element that we have not seen previously in other prototypes.

The successor to the BMW Z4 will be based on the CLAR platform that will underpin all the rear-wheel drive models of the brand, from the new BMW 3 Series to the current 7 Series, this will also be the platform that employs the future Toyota Supra whose development has been carried out in parallel to that of the new Z4. We will therefore find materials such as aluminum, magnesium or carbon fiber in its frame.

The mechanical range will initially be composed by three gasoline versions consisting of two turbocharged 4-cylinder 2.0-liter versions sDrive20i and sDrive30i, and in the sportier version, the M40i we will find a 3.0 liter six-cylinder engine.

Could the spy shots be of a heavily cladded Toyota body? It sure doesn't look like the renderings.

lol I think they're close. I'm betting it will pull some design queues from the new 8. The render appears to be missing the obvious lower front fender crease/vent, but otherwise could be on point. Still, as someone mentioned, they'll probably ask $75K+ for this hair dresser's special so it won't really matter what it looks like if no one can afford it or have to decide between this or buying an M4.

Just got an invite to check it out next Friday night in Monterey. Glad because I didn't really want to go back again Sunday just to see it

Yeah, no. Hardtops are the dumbest thing to ever happen to convertibles. Well, after automatics.
your mentality is all backwards lol!
