Anyone else see that yet? First episode features the M2.

It is tg 2.0. Parts were too scripted and too forced. But it was really good. The budget has to be uuuuuggggeeee. They are spending a ton of coin on travel and production not to mention salaries. Was nice to see the m2 on the debut episode.

Entertaining but I was a bit disappointed - the boys show up at LAX and rent 3 hot tuner mustangs but not a word about the cars. Just them grinning at each other as they drove up to the high desert. No real "local" content other than dragging their set out to a dry lake and getting a bunch of folks to come and see them. They could of at least popped over to Willow Springs for a few laps.

And then there was the M2 segment - where did they get their "professional racing driver"? I am not a big fan of NASCAR but I didn't recognize his name. Is he a used-to-was grid filler for a national series or a driver from one of the lower tier regional series? Surely they can do better with maybe a retired BTCC driver who would do more than carp about not having a V8.

Personally I loved it. I think BMW fans were disappointed they didn't get into technical details but that's what the other publications are about. This is meant to be entertaining.

I'm very excited these 3 are back!

The driver is Mike Skinner, a 59 year old retired NASCAR driver. He drove in the Sprint Cup series for years starting in the '80s. I don't believe he ever won a race, but he was rookie of the year and was competitive with a lot of Top 10 finishes. His best racing success was in the NASCAR Truck series. He won a bunch of races there as well as a championship.

He is essentially "The Stig" for the Grand Tour series. They liked him for the part because he is a professional racer, but his personality also has a bit of Larry the Cable Guy in it - the southern accent and blue-collar sense of humor.

For the more serious stuff, they will bring in other drivers, such as the former F1 Belgian driver featured in Episode 1. But even his appearance was more for laughs, with the hilarious English subtitles accompanying his dialogue.

Loved the part where they were talking shit about the 918 and the P1 when the techs were still in the garage with them.

It was good but I suspect it will get better with time. I do wish they would back off the laugh track.

Episode 2 was a bit flat. Too much of the same thing over and over again.

They did that in ep 1 with the Royal Air force bit too.

IMO they were trying to hard in episode 2. To much acting, the scripting was very noticable instead of trying to just be them selves.

Its too bad Jeremy Clarkson's little fiasco at Top Gear/BBC occurred around the same time the M235 came out...

I really would have enjoyed watching him review the M235, and the Stig flogging it around their airport track...

Now only Big Bro M2 gets the recognition...lol...

Whatever happened to Ben Collins, I though he was going to be "The Stig" on the new show based on the little preview video?
