need to grow up or do more exhaust work

I don't suppose I have 1000 miles yet on the new MPE (M240i), but it's not as raspy as the 135is was right out of the box and I rather miss that nasty noise.

I suppose next step is resonator delete / mid pipe?

Or I could just grow up.

There are several possible solutions:

1. http://www.soundracer.se/?p=98
2. New/better hearing aids.
3. Never grow up.

At age 70, I recommend option 3.

Still going on. At least last night it was. Just delete the resonator. Oh and never grow up.

Yes, go for the resonator delete / mid pipe, instead of the Mercedes

Resonator delete is tempting, but pretty irreversible. So far I've not found a good video comparison on the sound. Has anyone done first MPE then res delete who can describe the difference, please?

How do you figure it's irreversible? All you would have to do is keep the resonator that they cut off to have it welded back into place should you want to go back to having it. I don't know why anyone would want to after hearing it without but whatever floats your boat. I actually kept mine.

The difference, in a word, would be LOUDER. More pops also. With just the stock 228 exhaust there is a noticeable difference. I have the flap open all the time though.

yeah, true, I guess you could weld it back.

M240i doesn't have a flap, I'm told. Louder would be good if it was the right kind of loud. I'd like to hear someone else's car first. And I wonder if it'd be irritating on the e-way.

The M240i does have a flap, but if you replace your stock exhaust with the Dinan free flow, you will no longer have one, and with the addition of the res delete, by adding the Dinan mid pipe you will have a very satisfying sounding system, ...... anyway, I dig mine at 48, ....... yes, I act like a child, oh well

It has to break in first. I also thought the same but after 3000 miles it started to sound alot better. But that might just be me.

Resonator delete is tempting. I've not been able to find a video of MPE + resonator delete sound. I'd hate to have it make a horrible drone or something ... but I need me some raspy noises like the 135is.

I spent $30 to have my resonator deleted. Far cry from the cost of a new pipe section and still 3" piping.

I vote for electric cutouts. ON, OFF. Why mess around?
