Optional Equipment - Can you add it later?

I have an ex-demonstrator model, it has come almost fully loaded but I was wondering how many Optional Equipment bits you can add on after?

For instance is all the wiring for electric seats and steering wheel heating present and it just needs connecting up to the switch units? Anyone know?

You can get almost anything done but the cost of making changes is going to be very high and you will lose the financial benefits of buying a demonstrator.

Any idea how much it would cost to install keyless entry? I couldn't justify the $4k for Premium Pkg

You can't justify keyless entry for $4,000?

Usually its cost prohibitive to add stuff after the fact, the options package will always be cheaper than adding piece by piece.

Wait... There's a new car made that doesn't include keyless entry??? Or are you talking about comfort access? I could see no comfort access (I do like mine), but no keyless entry?!?

Comfort access = keyless entry what's the difference, I personally think it's dumb to have keyless start but have to pay separate for CA/KE

Keyless entry has been around for decades now. Alarms allowed for you to push a button to unlock the car. Comfort access allows you to lock/unlock the doors without any button pushes/fetching the fob out of your pocket or purse.

Coming from an initial skeptic I must say that comfort access is really nice. Now only if the damn trunk worked as advertised...

What's not working about the trunk?

Looking at page 42 of the owner's manual (under "Unlocking the trunk lid separately"), I'm actually not following what Comfort Access does for the trunk. It seems like there's a missing paragraph. I thought I heard something about walking up to the back of the car and swinging your foot around, but I can't remember if that was for the 2 Series. Given that the trunk only unlatches but does not pop up on its own, this would be only marginally more useful than pressing on the touch button above the license plate.

On the website it said you could operate the trunk release by waving your foot under the rear bumper...

Oh okay, so that was the 2 Series. But the trunk doesn't actually pop up, so, you still need a hand free to grab the lid and lift it up. I think the E90 3 Series got a pop-up trunk in it's later years (my '07 just unlatches), but I'm not sure about more recent BMWs.

The 2 series Comfort Access doesn't have the trunk pop-up like the 3 or 5 series.

I got a $300 credit from BMW NA (Wednesday) at the local dealer for accessories, because of the lack of the truck release with comfort access.

You all can get it too. Call customer relations.

Hopefully not. On the website, under model highlights and comfort access, it says "Innovative and easy to operate, the Comfort Access system makes it possible to open both the vehicle doors and trunk and start the engine without having to use the car key."

But if it is an issue, we could get the $300 credit, right?

Comfort access include additional hardware (touch sensitive door handles) which is why it is not free compared to keyless start.

Similarly auto park includes additional sensors on the side of the car which also costs more.

BTW... no trunk release with comfort access still on the 2015 models. Salesman at the dealership tried to demonstrate it by waving his foot under rear bumper...nada. I'm going to try to call BMW NA for the credit.

For the 2 Series, it's called "comfort go" to "distinguish" it from "comfort access".

It's a bit like the hk stereo issue form a marketing standpoint.
