Does anyone use the MyBMW app for remote functions?

The reviews are middling to negative but the ability to find my car in a parking lot by flashing the lights/sounding the horn, or to save time by sending an address directly to the iDrive nav system appeals to me...in theory. On the other hand, the car is already hooked up to my iPhone via Bluetooth (so it has all my addresses for nav) and I have the comfort access package for keyless entry, etc. Would the app be redundant? Not sure if I remember my BMW Connected Drive login either...

Would anyone care to comment re. their own experiences? Many thanks.

More of a novelty than useful. Most of the time it times out, even with a good signal.

I've never once been able to get the commands to go through, just times out.

Mine has worked every time I have tried it. There is a 1-2 minute delay, but both the light flash and horn seem to work for me.

Do you mean a one-time 1 - 2 minute delay in getting it to see the car and log into it, or every time when you want it to flash the lights or sound the horn? If the latter, that ain't good!

Yeah, it is a significant delay for both lights and horn, each time.

I just tried it this weekend, turned on the fans remotely before getting back to the hot car. Worked as advertised, although with the windows up, the car was still hot very when I got in. Probably taking years off the battery.

im not sure about he other features, they dont seem all that useful.

I set the timer to ventilate the car if I have to park in the sun, windows cracked, it's a pretty welcome feature for summer in Los Angeles. It's not blowing cooled air, so I do not believe that the fan alone will tax the battery too much. I think it times out after half an hour.

I am certainly not going to bother with the app if it cannot activate horn or lights instantaneously, it's pointless.

It's a bit of a novelty... There is a delay for me 15-30 seconds... I've never really lost my car so never really used the feature apart from testing it out.

I use this app quite often to send addresses to the nav, and I also use it to start the fan in the car. Not a novelty for me.

I've been using it regularly to activate comfort ventilation as well, if I forget to turn it on before leaving the car. Once in a while it doesn't work properly. Mostly it's fine, though.

I concur regarding the remote-fan turn-on. I have about a five-minute walk to my garaged car from the office. When I'm preparing to head out the door on a day like today (Dallas. High: 105), I activate it. By the time I get to my car, it's noticeably cooler inside than on days I don't activate it.

I also have hit "lock" if I even remotely (pun semi-intended, hehe) think I didn't lock the car after exiting it. As for the lights and horn ... haven't tested that, but the delay (around 1 minute for me) makes it semi-useless.

I third the remote fan activation as a feature I greatly appreciate. Unfortunately, I don't have a garage so on those hot, sunny days it definitely makes the car feel cooler upon entry when utilized as opposed to the days I forget to activate it. Although classical conditioning is making those days I forget less and less...

I'm actually using the unlock feature today to get something out of the car. As I'm not driving today it saves me from returning the key back home.

I just got myself a cheap Android phone (just for wifi use) and put the BMW app on there. It was a bit slow to get going, but it was able to start 'ventilation' on my 228i. A useful thing here in Denver, the higher UV here really bakes the inside of the car.

Works... then sometimes it doesn't... tried to use it on the runway to tell my car to activate climate after a few days trip and... nothing. Even w/ car on the top, no-roof garage level... but when it does it's neat!
