Front tow hook cover
So the front tow hook cover fell off recently (or possibly stolen) and I didn't see the hole until today. Has this happened to any others?

I haven't lost any, but I occasionally see other cars missing them (not just BMWs). There is another post about similar issue with wheel center caps falling out. Looks like some have had luck with getting dealer to replace, even though it isn't clearly a warranty issue. You might try asking your service advisor or salesperson real nice.

It happened to me in Summer of 2015 on a road trip. The dealer (Motorwerks BMW) comped me a new one since there was no evidence of tampering. They wrote it up as a defective cover since it didn't stay in place. There is another thread on this subject from 2015 if you search.

1. Buy new tow hook cover (unpainted) from get bmw parts dot com (get f&r or 1 extra).
2. Take to body shop and have them paint-matched to your bumper, not to the car body itself (bumpers are painted separately from the car bodies during manufacturing). 3. Carefully snap in new tow hook cover. I had this happen twice on my wife's previous 128 convertible, so I bought extras ($12 each) and it cost the same to have 4 of them painted as it did 1 (about $50). That way, you've spent $100 but are covered if it happens again. I've not seen anywhere that you can buy them pre-painted, but there may be a source out there somewhere. Problem is with the paint matching, just like with replacing the front-fender amber sidemarkers.

It happened to me the as well as finding a dent on passanger door within the first 2 days of owning the car. Contacted my CA and he took care of the dent and tow hook cover and threw in the rubber sport line floor mats.

Happened to me as well with my last car (2014 535xi). I think it was stolen since the cover actually has a tether on it to keep it from being lost. I bought a new one and painted it carefully with touchup paint.
