Texas World Speedway - so long its been fun!

The iconic Texas World Speedway - once a super oval, now an aging road course - is perhaps in its final few weeks before closing its gates for good (???)... in honor of the iconic track I post the f22 making a few laps around the track - in the spirit of TWS, they are not the fastest laps, not the cleanest laps, perhaps they are somewhat ugly laps - but none the less some of the funnest laps I've had. Enjoy!

Got a chance to drive this track for the first time! You are killing me on turns 1 and 4. Managed to pull in a 2:06.98 on my last session today. That turn 1 is a guy check turn. Also got to mess around with an M2 today from Houston. Too bad my gopro didn't record jack

Hopefully we'll get another full year of running

Thanks. Current best is 1:58, w/ 1:57 paces slowed down by traffic. Setup is fbo, JB4 map 1 (I'm conservative on trying to maintain engine wear), kw club sports, hankook rsv3 and racing endurance brake pads. Focus has shifted lately to spec Miata but still hoping to get the 2er out one last time on some racing slicks to see what it can do.

I treat t1 & t2 as one decreasing radius turn. That said there are lots of options lots of opinions on how to take it fast. My favored line is different then what's in the video. I don't go up the banking much lift to turn in (t1) early and shallow, straighten out a bit and start braking after transition, go in tight across blend line all the way to grass, and continue to drag the brake thru apex (t1 & t2), goal is to drift back out and just to brush the outside of the square patch on outside, back on gas and maintenance thru mid corner exit, which would technically be the apex of t2, w/ full throttle at inside curbing. It's a good corner for finding the balance between brake pressure and turning input - not so much threshold, mostly dragging the brake - it's unnerving but relatively safe place to go off.

I'm not using anything new and fancy, guess that was a misprint on my part... I think I meant the rs3 vers2... Ha, I'm not very good at keeping these things straight.

They did announce a new RS3 v3 compound at SEMA which is why you got me excited

EDIT: They are calling it the RS4. My mistake.

Sounds about right and what I was told to do. It was a hard corner to visualize and its a bit deceptive, so its hard to trust any advice first time out. Most offs I saw were at that corner.

Anyway, 1:58 is super impressive. I was clocking M4s and corvettes at 1:59-2:00 range. And the fastest youtube times I saw where 1:51 with ppl hitting 160 on the front straight. With a bit more power and slicks - I wonder if you'd be right there at 1:51.

Thanks for the feedback

Ha its going to take more than tires and a little E for more me to do a 1:51 in the 2er... we'll see, maybe some seat time in the miata doesn't boost my skills :-). for ref the top spec miata guys do around a 1:59, I'm a couple seconds off that pace - i would however like to think its my engine fault ;-)

Had a great HPDE weekend at the track circa 1999-2000 with fellow Lone Star/Houston(?) BMW CC members. My first real track experience. Sic Transit Gloria.

This section could use some love... Was searching through some files and found this video on my computer - kind of a fun rear perspective from the 235 at tws...
