^This brings are a very good point. Just because it's a rocket off the line, like many of these tuned DSG VW/Audis can be, they're not overly exciting to drive. Once you take the launch out of the equation, they're not that much faster than most tuned late model BMWs, mod for mod. Much of their impressive acceleration is the result of incredibly hard launches.
As for high 3 second 0-60s in tuned M235 and M240s, it's really quite simple. A bonestock M235x or M240x are already very low 4 second cars. Add a basic tune and you're there. Heck, even the stock 6MT M235/240 are in the mid-4s. Add slicks to a stock 6MT and you're dipping into the upper 3 second 0-60 range easily.

As a previous and still proud ex-owner of a couple of Corvette’s that had the required mods for safely tracking the vehicle without damage and still be comfortable enough for a daily driver, when I hear stories about someone baking their vette at a track, I would say about 95% of the time it’s the drivers fault and NOT the car.
