Slight exhaust burble at slow speeds.
Had the M240i for 2 months now And love it.
Have only covered around 1400 miles, have had it in sports mode many times but today I noticed a slight burble at slow speed. When accelerating softly from a standstill, at around 10-20mph if I release my foot from the accelerator I get a small burble, is this normal? I’ve never noticed it before but I noticed it today over the stereo. It’s only in sports mode and happens everytime i release the peddle, and I’m not putting it under any load. It is a little annoying as I can feel and hear the burble even though it’s only slight, although I suspect this is normal? |

Probably new owner hallucinosis - mine lasted about 3000miles before I stopped alerting to new odd noises. And IIRC the ASD is supposed to be louder in sport and sport+.

I paid 50K USD + a Dinan mid-pipe install and coded out the ASD, just so that I could hear that all the time.

Don’t get me wrong, I love the burble sound and the loudness of it when flooring it and downshifting. but just wasn’t sure if this was a normal sound when I’m just driving in normal traffic, accelerate softly, release, tiny burble over and over again. It’s not a burble that is loud, sounds more like a vibration. But i guess it’s standard so it’s all good

Yes it is specially programmed to do that. Supposed to be cool. Even with M Perf Exhaust, it's not loud enough for me and my wife. May have to do the mid-pipe.
My 135is was really snarly, we loved it. |

Sorry, just realised how my post may have sounded. What I meant is I heard the slight burble over the stereo that was playing, not from the stereo, when I heard it I turned the stereo off and the exhaust was definitely making the sound. Just found it weird why it would do this under no load and at such a slow speed, like I say it wasn’t that loud so it’s not as if it’s was impressing anyone, if anything it sounds like a rattle. Hence the annoyance. In stop start traffic I just didn’t think it sounded right...

Note that the ASD makes sound thru the stereo even with the stereo off, so if you haven't coded it off, it still could be a fake noise.

It should be real, I didn't hear mine inside the cabin, but with the windows rolled down in the garage at work, I would hear it at low speeds.

The M235i isn't the only car that does that when letting off the throttle at low cruising speeds like 2nd gear. Just about every performance car does it. To most performance car fans, it's a badge of honor.
