Bimmertech Amp Installation Problem
I've got a 2018 M240i that had the HIFI amp that I'm switching out for a Bimmertech amp. My problem is that the USB port is directly behind part of the factory bracket. There is no way to install the Bimmertech amp into the bracket with the USB cable plugged in, which defeats my ability to tune the amp once it's installed. Any one else run into this issue?

I emailed Bimmertech about the problem, and this is the response i received: "You do have to take the amp out of the bracket in order to tune it. My apologies as this is not mentioned in our instructions but we are working on new set."
I think this is ridiculous. The issue should be clearly stated up front, not just in the instructions. |

You can either get a 90 degree USB cable or rotate the amp 180 in how it is mounted to the bracket. I did not have a 90 degree USB cable so I went with the second method. It's just 4 screws.

Buy yourself a 90 degree cable. Problem solved. This has been discussed in other install threads as well if you search you may discover more tips and tricks.

Wow.
A little research will reveal that Bimmertech completely overlooked this with its initial run of 2 Series amp kits. Its solution then (only after enough people complained)? Include a 90-degree adapter with the amp package. Looks like it only did this for a certain amount of time. "Gotta squeeze another buck of profit out of those Bimmertech amps! How? Let's stop including the USB adapter. No one will notice!" Jaysus. If at this stage -- almost three years later -- Bimmertech doesn't have its steez together regarding something as trivial as this, then I guess there's no helping it. Answer me this: How can an amp be "plug-and-play" if the bracket it fits in doesn't even allow you to plug it in properly? You guys can keep giving 'em money. I never have, and never will. #AMansGottaHavePrinciples

Thing is, they did send me a USB cable, but just the standard cable with straight ends. If you're going to include it, why not make it the correct cable? I already ordered one with 90 degree ends from Amazon....

It seems like $900 for the amp is absurdly expensive.
I really want to get a better amp but I am not a car audio expert and am looking for something a beginner could handle. $6-700 sounds more reasonable. |

The biggest problem with the amp is no professional stateside will tune it for you. Better off sticking with JL if you're going to enlist help in that regard.
