Centre Console part BMW wants $1400.
Hi All,
A small piece of plastic which holds my center console/glove box down in my 2series BMW broke 2 months ago. Took it to BMW Sydney who diagnosed it wrong originally said it will cost $200 to fix, now they say I need to replace the whole center console/ glove box which is $1,400 as they diagnosed it wrong for the part it seems crazy for one piece of plastic. I also questioned if they would cover this under warrenty and they said no. I found this on eBay seems to be the same part as my car https://www.ebay.com/itm/2016-BMW-F2...IAAOSwo4pYIra6 Also found this one in the UK for 79 pounds https://www.ebay.ie/itm/BMW-1-SERIES...-/232479096617 works out to be 300 USD inc shipping, this does not seem to complex to change. Thoughts? |

It would probably cost a million dollars if we were to build our car out of parts from BMW!
Is it just the latch on the lid that's broken? Maybe you can epoxy some strong magnets in there to hold it. That being said, if you want to replace it, look around for a local wreck/wrecker. The shipping from overseas, on something that big, is expensive. Here's one on Gumtree that might work for you: https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/reve...eel/1151453224 Ken |

The guy at BMW is like someone broken jumped on it and it did it, I am like ahh no they didn't. Seemed they wanted to be defensive about even trying to claim it on warranty. Cheers for the link that place isn't far from me Ill see how much they want for the small part it looks like the car is pretty beat up. |
