No price for the LSD?!!! The LSD is the most important part on that list. If we are waiting, just make it an option from the factory instead of the hassle and wasted labor of dealer install.

So far the Performance LSD is only available for the F30 and only for the AUTOMATIC trans. And that was (only just!)updated last week in BMW's ETK(Electrnic Parts Catalog). I have heard rumors of a ~3,800 euro part price. BMW says only two hours is needed at the dealer to change out complete "pumpkins".

Thanks! I got the following from BMW North America

"This part should be available for dealer ordering towards the end of April. As we get closer to that time period the parts manager at your preferred authorized BMW center will be in the best position to assist you."

Emailed my dealership, and got the following:

"also check with our parts department and found that this option is scheduled to be released for dealer ordering on the 9th of April."

But what I care about is port install :/. Even for 2 hour installation dealership will probably cost a lot and no 4 year warranty

Price for LSD for the automatic F30/F32 is $3200 per the other thread.

Guess it will be the same for the F22. Pretty expensive, I was hoping for 2K max.

Maybe the MT version will be cheaper??

I think you'll get the warranty regardless. look at the pdf:

4 Year / 50K miles when purchased with a new vehicle
2 years or the balance of the new vehicle warranty, whichever is greater

How many journalist reviews and forum posts will it take until BMW makes a LSD a factory option.

That is quite interesting to hear.

Well, at Porsche you pay 1320$ for a factory slipdiff in a Cayman S.

My dealer in Munich told me it will be around 3000€ for the LSD alone

A retrofit LSD for any BMW is 2300€ incl install by Drexler or even less if you take a Quaife

Well done BMW

I couldn't agree more. BMW was built on catering to the enthusiast but the past couple years (just about the time I can afford a new one) they've been lost in SUVs and "special edition" M3s. Makes me sad.

You all realize that the LSD was brought to market ONLY because BMW put out a poll to the BMW CCA and enough people wanted it right? I don't know how that is NOT catering to the enthusiast.

You got that right.

Porsche is not stupid. Also they offer huge colour choices as well.

It is catering to the enthusiast, but they are also pricing it above what most would consider a reasonable cost.

At 3200 USD, it is almost 7.5% of the base cost (43,100 USD) of the car. That seems to be a lot when Porsche is pricing an LSD on the Cayman S at 1320 USD which is just over 2% of the base price (63,800 USD).
