I'm thinking of doing the same thing. I'm not looking for a loud exhaust but something I can hear from inside the cabin with the windows up. I have the 6speed 228 and with the stock exhaust during normal driving conditions it's pretty hard to hear what the engine is doing by sound alone. I mean I can, but it's super quiet and not very engaging. Which I find especially important with a manual car. Any way these are things you already know but I wanted to know if the MPE would solve that. Can you hear what the RPMs are doing even at lower RPMs? (a low rumble) I loved my friends 135msport exhaust note. It wasn't loud but you could always hear what's going on. I saw your video but I know exhausts age and get better. Also recordings can be so misleading.

For those who feel adding the MPE isn't loud enough,
I coded the the N55 ASD and I think it compliments the MPE If it gets too loud, just put it in comfort mode and it is silent again. |

you can code it to the same setting as the M235i (n55). The 228i (n20) active sound was so quiet. With the n55 setting it's loud enough to not have to look down at what RPM I am at. It also gives a nice deep rumble at the lower RPM range that the n20 lacks. |

Hello mate, That sound amazing! I'm planning to do the same, but I will also add also a custom made center pipe (I'll leave the downpipe for now). I already know that there a diffeference with our center pipe (80mm vs 75mm) but doing it custom won't be a problem and I'm going to buy a carbon rear 235i diffuser, but I still have a couple of questions for you if you have time to answer: 1) you said you need to extend the two hangers, but is a little wielding enough? Or you will need something more complicated? Maybe buying the hangers of the M235i will solve the problem? Do you have any photo of the 2 modified hangers? 2) does the exhaust come already with the valve actuator? I saw looking at part numbers that it's the same with our 228i, so I assume that the wire and the connector fits perfectly, is that correct? Thank you in advance! (I know I've written you also via PM, but maybe you missed the message or did not have time to answer!) |
