Brown Convertible Top? I need input?

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
First post so bare with me please,

I might be crazy, but I am two weeks away from placing my order, and I am currently thinking I like the brown Convertible Top. I am replacing a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT and a 2013 Mazda MX-5(Miata) with one vehicle...

Currently looking at:
2016 MW M235i X-Drive.
  • Cold Weather
  • Drive Asst
  • Drive Asst Plus
  • Tech
  • Orbit Grey Non-RFT Summers
  • HKS
  • M Perf Side Decals
  • Black Kidney
  • Carbon Fiber Mirror

My Question is regarding the top, I think I like the way the Brown Top looks, as the black is almost too much contrasting color. Would love input and if anyone has real world pictures for comparison. Also any input on my order choices if I am missing something please advise.

Disappointed BlindSpot Monitor isn't available as Convertibles have blind spots, not to mention if they can put them on a new Miata why can't I have them on a car thats double the price... I did test drive and can obviously live without.

Thanks,

Kind of weird timing, I was in my M235i tonight and got stuck in traffic behind a 1 series white convertible with a beige top and it actually looked pretty good. It looks like your going with red seats and if your going with red seats I'd stick with the black top. Maybe with different color seats brown might be ok but I wouldn't do it with red.

Your car would effectively be identical to mine. I have MW/CR/Moonlight Black w/black wheels & grilles.

Personally I do not think the brown would look good, especially with the coral red.

I think the brown is a color that could work if you were going to do the terra leather and a black car but other then that...eh.

I'm starting to agree the Moonlight Black may be the smarter choice, but for some reason I think the brown looks kind of cool, but maybe its different in a bad way lol. Thanks for the input!

Think you're firmly in the different for the sake of being different camp on this one.

Similar situation I guess, drove by an Audi dealer every day that an S4 cab, black with red top and red leather on the pre owned lot. First day I thought damn that's cool. Week later not so much. After a few months I couldn't imagine why anyone would spec a car that way. And the car sat there for 6 months at least unsold.

Yeah, I loved the Audi with the maroon top at first, I think your right the unique at first look works, but after awhile you might be driving a clown car... I'm putting my order in next Monday and 85% sure I'm going with the Moonlight Black Top. Down to two decisions left, 1. The Decals, I know I can add these later but I kind of like the look it gives the car with the darker rims. 2. Tires, I want the PSS, but if I get a Mid February delivery will that ruin the summer tires, I would really like to wait for the following winter to get winter tires.

Think of it this way, while you may wish for whatever you didn't chose, the chances of you thinking "shit I hate this top and I'm sick of it" are virtually 0% with the black. It's not going to hurt you any.

My opinion is that the brown and coral red seats do not look good together. In fact they pretty much clash. If you want the brown top, go with the terra leather. I opted for Terra and I'm glad I did. You don't see too many of them and it strikes a great balance between luxury and sport.
