Drive Modes
Back to the M240 from a tour of ownership of other vehicles.
It is a great car for me. It's just my fun car so don't drive day to day. Curious how others us the drive modes ? When sport when sport plus? ON the inter state long hauls I use econ ? Not sure I am supposed to admit that ! So wondering what mode you use when? Hap |

Forgot a couple.. DTC OFF and DTC are valid modes as well.
Eco for slow traffic or laid back driving, cruising. (MHD makes eco feel a bit more like comfort) Comfort for short trips where I couldn't be bothered, or rougher roads and boring winter driving. Sport when I care about not breaking traction but want a twitchy pedal. Sport+ when I don't care about wheel chirp and want the twitchy pedal. DTC or DTC off for snowy weather or more spirited driving in general. |

I pretty much drive in Sport all the time because I prefer the throttle response, especially during matching revs on a down shift. I keep the EDC to comfort tho.

Sport + all the time. Only exception is the 1 to 2 road trips a year where I have it in Eco mode when cruising on the freeway.

Stg II+ and it's my daily driver. I use comfort commuting to work. Sport when I'm joy riding. Sport + pretty much only for racing.

I'll admit my car is fast enough as it is, so mostly comfort with eco on highway trips. I walk to work so I try to stretch it's legs randomly on the weekends. It's amazing how hard it pulls in every gear.
I laugh, on my 2019 X7 50 I used to put it in sport a lot, with my 21 X7 M50 I haven't felt the need once. |

I use comfort for the first few minutes of every drive, to protect the car from my right foot. On very cold days I drop all the way to eco, same reason.
After it's warm though - let's go! |

With a tune, diff, and coilovers, I leave it in Comfort.
DSC OFF is also an option. I think someone here once said he used it all the time.

Lately I'll use Comfort when I first start the car, and when I'm trying to be "mindful" of mpg. (ECO is just useless to me, too sluggish)
Sport+ all other times. DTC OFF when I want to get sideways. |

I basically only drive in Comfort to work, DTC for canyon carving, or everything off for HPDE.
I dont like the twitchy throttle in the sport modes.

I'd wager a heavy or light right foot makes more difference to mpg than any driving mode and I bought the car to enjoy it, so normal then sport when she's warmed up!😄

Sport chassis only bc I hate the twitchy pedal and I only want the gearing change when I flip the selector to S or M

Pretty much the same here but not so much because of the twitchy throttle response, but like to keep the revs low on the highway, which is where most of my 35 mile daily commute occurs. But I hate the slow kick down when the throttle is in comfort mode, so I throw the selector to S when I need the more responsive throttle.
