What JB4 Map are you running?

Not sure if this thread has been started on 2addicts, but I want to start a post to see what everyone is running with their setup and what map.

I just purchased my JB4 and should be here next week. I have MPE and ER downpipe. I ordered the EWG add-on and FF harness comes with it now.

Should I run map1 or map5? I know my friends with E92/n54 run map 5 for auto tuning.

Not sure if I will run E85 at first, maybe down the road.

All depends on what type of fuel your gonna run. I'm running e35 on a custom map 6. I'm FBO with a STG 1 turbo upgrade.

Map 5 with dp and intake. I like it better than map 1 - lot less jerk when shifting

Map 5 with DP and intake as well.

More pull than map1 running 91 octane.

Havnt tried map 2 vs map5 on 94 octane though. Waiting to put my summer tires on first.

Map2. MPE, ER downpipe & BMS intake.
I'm also experiencing significant lag, but off the line.

Map 2, 91 octane no FF or EWG (though doing both of those this week).

I was using map 1, but was told by Burger Tuning that map 2 was the "base" map for the M235i and that map 1 would be "like stock".

Interesting. What octane are you using? I will try map5 off the bat. I will be running same setup, minus the intake.

hmmm. This is what I read on n54 tech -

Map Info

Map 0: JB4 disabled
Map 1: Peak boost 12.5psi, suggest for most racing applications.
Map 2: Peak boost 14.0psi, suggested for those using exhaust mods and 93 RM2 octane or higher fuels
Map 3: Progressive methanol mapping
Map 4: Stock performance, JB4 on
Map 5: Autotuning, enabled in 8.8 and later firmware
Map 6: User definable map. Suggested for troubleshooting by professionals only.
Map 7: Race gas map. Peak boost 18.5psi. Requires straight unleaded race gas.

Let me know the difference after you install the EWG and FF and what you think about it.

Shankska - Yes, I totally agree. The docs posted are misleading.

Since I only have the JB4 - no other mods yet - and only 91 gas here, I was using Map 1.

I emailed in to find out some info about Map 1, as I wasn't noticing much of anything. I was told the following by Jon at BMS..

Quote:
We recommend map 2 in the M235i as map 1 will provide similar performance to the factory tuning.
With that I tried Map 2, and haven't went back since. No knocking, etc in my M235i with 91 gas around 2000-2500' above sea level, and a noticeable improvement in performance! I'll get back to you later this week once I get my EWG wires.

Thanks for your input. Surely this will be helpful to myself and others! Thanks.

Best map

I have catless downpipe, intercooler and hi flow filter, on a 93 octane fuel; which map do you recommend?
Do octane booster really work?
