Lots of conflicting info on different forums, I'd like to hear people's opinions on this package for this particular car.

BTW, how's the road condition in Boston? With that in mind, would you buy this package?

One thing to keep in mind, if you are going to run winter wheels / tires (which you should in Boston) you'll only be covered half the time when the roads are in better shape to begin with.

That protection was designed for run-flats. I'm not sure why you would get it with the M235i.

if you're not getting run flats and you get the m235 standard tires which are the Michelin pilot supersport tires, you probably don't need the protection. these tires are about $250 per tire from discount tires (when I researched it anyways) and my dealer was trying to charge me $3000 for the protection for 5 years. so didn't seem worth it to me and I would need to get them replaced almost 10 times in 5 years before I get the most bang for the buck. the finance guy was trying to tell me that he used it at least once a year since he got nails stuck in his tires all the time.....which seemed odd to me because after living in las vegas for 5 years, i haven't met anyone who got a nails stuck in their tire.

ah, makes sense. Forgot that it only covers OEM tires/wheels.

Yes and the tire ins for winter tires from tire rack is $20 per tire. If you run Sport edition rims which lots of folks do you can get a whole winter setup for $1400, and if you destroy a wheel and tire you're out $140 for the wheel and the tire gets replaced for you. The BMW insurance is crazy expensive especially if you only have the covered wheels and tires on half the time. The other thing to consider is by running two sets your regular tires will last twice as long (from a time perspective) so the $1400 for winter gear isn't that bad considering new tires all around will cost $1K.

yep, can't wait for TireRack to come out with aftermarket wheels. I might keep the 18" wheels+PSS for summer and maybe get 19" wheels+snow tires for winter? Is 19" too big for winter?

Bad idea. You want narrow as possible and often go down a size bc the sidewall is so much thicker. You'll prob need a square setup w 18x8. Going to 17 you'll have caliper clearance issues. 19 with thick sidewall will cause rubbing issues I would imagine. Check 135is m brakes to get a rough idea of options. I was looking at Blizzak w some sport edition rims (they take BMW center caps).

I was confused when I walked out financing when he wanted to sell me the tire/wheel package for 3 years well over $2K saying my special run-flats are $500 a piece installed by BMW service. Didn't find out until 2 days later from reading here and actually reading the tires they are not run-flats at all!

Had to replace two wheels on my 335i a few years back. Cost me $600 total for one front and one rear from a BMW reseller in the area. The only reason I needed to have them replaced in the first place was due to run-flats and pot holes. Replaced all the run-flats with regular tires two weeks later and never bent another rim.

if its through safeguard -- it DOES cover aftermarket wheels/tires. I know that as a fact.

So if I were to opt for the M PSS tires, and wheels, theres no point for the tire/wheel protection?

Because if that is the case, why would my dealer offer it in the first place? For $?

There are some 17's that do fit M235 brakes, can't remember off the top of my head, but I've seen a few guys with them in the wheel and tire forum.

Bought it, and have replaced 4 Rims, and 2 runflats thus far. ODO has over 12k miles.

Cost me $150 in deductibles (50 each incident) and i think my plan was around 1400.

I purchased for 1400 and in first Long Island winter blew out 3 tires. So for me a good idea. Good luck

I'm feeling the runflat hurt.

I got a puncture last week that was too close to the sidewall to patch without it leaking (they tried twice but both times it started leaking within 2 days.

Then 2 days later my wife nailed a pothole and blew out another one.

Have aftermarket wheels with 235/45 PSS coming soon. Hopefully a little more meat and lack of runflats keeps them surviving longer. I never had any issues with the RFT's on my F30 but I guess that's the luck of the draw.

i've had so much problems with runflats especially on my f30 while driving on LIE.

Bubbles, to blowing out the tire, to a broken rim. all 3 separate incidents

I'm taking delivery next week (hopefully) and debating buying the tire protection I'm sure I'll be offered. Right now I'm leaning towards no since I'll be getting a winter setup and also getting the Michelin PSS. I've seen numbers in this post alone from $1400-$3000, is that based on the area you live in? How negotiable is the price? At $1400 I'm out, but at say $800 they might have a deal.
