Do you take any additional precautions or steps to seal the air-filter/air-box in cars in that location ?
I believe I once read drivers place a seal of petroleum jelly around the air-box closure to make sure all incoming air goes through the filter.

Is the sand harsh on the paint finish or does a good rinse and wash take it back to new ?

Gas is 25 cents a liter, NAV and SAT Radio are not enabled yet (US SPECS, no need for Bahrain GPS, small island). Will probably reset it(trip computer) and get the US NAV/SAT activated after picking up the car at VPC San Diego when I get back stateside this coming May with 3 years of warranty left.

Never thought of that at all but actually a good idea. There are parts on the island here where you can feel like sand blasting when it blows hard but I seldom get on that open highway and will not even try when there's a sand storm. In the city, sand is so fine like baby powder and washes off easy. Most visitors that go to Bahrain from Kuwait, Saudi, UAE etc have these coating on the front, side and rear of their cars and trucks.

My trip reset itsself when I went over 10000 miles, I've never reset it either in 2 years.

Did you bring it in for service? Maybe they reset at the service center.
