can't they just understand that this is a family car and that they are not supposed to drift with it?

a 3 or a bottom - you decide.

Sinking to new lows to eke out a few more sales....

No our reports state Active Tourer customers are more or less demographically female and that the car is bought as the "Secondary" BMW in a two BMW household.
I do not think Active Tourer will be taken on to a track?

Therefore this comparison is completely pointless and is just to show hatred on the reviewers part of the Active Tourer. Which is for what it offers a very good car indeed. I recently had the Gran Tourer and it was able to do everything I needed it to do because of the increased flexibility it offered.

No, it's a silly review. They don't review the other cars this way unless they were meant to.

So many enthusiast want BMW to remain a small, niche company that only makes cars that BMW M GmbH can then take and make into better cars. It's not possible. Audi has Volkswagen to shield it from a tarnishing of the brand, but BMW doesn't have a parent company.

I think even their performance stuff is lagging in spirit these days...but this 2 active tourer is just a poor branding exercise....opportunistic rebranding of Mini.

Obviously tongue in cheek, but I think the review is valid. If they're going to put the roundel on it to try and cash in on the brand image, they have to expect people are going to want to associate the car with the history of that brand. You can't have your cake and eat it too.

Bet you the i3 would equally suck around the track. You would expect it to do well just because it has a Roundel? I honestly have to wonder about anyone who looked at the i3 and thought to themselves, "I'm totally gonna tear up the track in that bad boy. It's a BMW!"

^^Nobody is looking at the i3 and expecting it to be a GT3, but they are expecting a degree of fun-to-drive and innovation, on which the car likely delivers (haven't driven one myself). All I'm saying is that in a car like the 2er AT, which comes in M Sport guise, people are justified in critiquing it's driving experience from the typical BMW point of view.

Sort of like Porsche and its huge 7 series competing sedan, and an even larger SUV boat. They made sure they still had the same driving feel in those variants.

Now, will they make a little active tourer that drives like a Porsche? LOL

I've driven the i3. It feels torquey but that's it. Nothing about it inspires spirited driving. I certainly wouldn't judge it on its track carving prowess.

Fifth Gear has done other reviews where they've taken the subject and put it through its intended paces. That Citroen C4 with the side padding is a good example. The car looks butt, but it's functional. I saw plenty in Paris and it looks weird, but they reviewed the car on how it handles daily life in urban Paris. On that regard, they liked it a lot.

Stupid review. Neither VBH or the child with the sideburns voted based on the car itself, just on the fact it wasn't a high-performance sporting BMW, that's just retarded. It would be as pointless as them taking an M4 to an SUV proving ground, and voting on it based on how much like a Range Rover it was.

Im ashamed to have this thing tied to the 2 brand...they should have just called it the AT...This things are going to sell incredibly well, they will be a dime dozen, even moreso then the 3series... Deep down I hope it is an epic failure but it wont be

Atleast in the X models you get a taste of BMW and the handling.

Now! this being said, I have a service business and I can see this being a PERFECT sales/service vehicle. I work with very wealthy clients and showing up in one of these wrapped with my logo will work very nicely...as much as I want this to be a failure I would seriously consider this for my business.

cant wait

Getting mine in June and cant wait. This review is so stupid. Which idiots drive like that on a public road? You don't rate an apple as inferior to an orange because it doesn't have segments. I will be able to drive my car when it snows while the other BMW drivers are calling for taxis.

While it is a bit sad, BMW is building a vehicle people in Europe want. That's why it's not sold in the USA.
