THP, xDrive and LSD

Is it worth it to order all three? If you had to choose one, which would it be? If you could have two of the three, which would they be?

Does xDrive help to replace the LSD to some extent?

I don't think so either. Though if able to be installed it would be a crazy drivetrain! Rival the S4 with the sport diff!

For a car with this much power AWD is not going to help you on the track with the weight and drivetrain loss penalty.

If you want to improve traction in bad weather/snow then x Drive will help (there are countless threads on RWD + Snow tires vs X Drive - there is no right/wrong answer just what you are comfortable with).

If you are going to track the car, the LSD is going to improve your grip, but I wouldn't take the LSD over the THP - the bigger brakes are more valuable than the LSD.

The THP gives you the advantage of the slightly stiffer adaptive suspension (Vs standard sport suspension) and the bigger brakes. If I had to pick one this would be it.

I was wondering why they were quoting the THP before i relaized he wanted a 228.

Definitely do not buy an LSD if you are getting the 228. even with 320 HP its utility is questionable. And i have one lol.

Also, we have to remember that the diff on the M235i (or 228i) is mechanically open, but electronically locking. Yeah, an electronically locking diff (via braking) isn't as good as a mechanical or eLSD, but it certainly is better than a truly open differential.

Okay you guys saved me some money on the LSD. Just trying to decide if I want the xDrive with the THP or keep the $1800 for a tune and whatever else I might need aftermarket.

That's what I meant. I'll order THP. XDrive only costs $1800 more, so if it doesn't do much, I can use that money on other mods like a JB4.
