Engine Beauty Cover

Hello everyone, I’m new to the forum. I have a 2017 M240i and the foam under the engine cover has disintegrated so I threw it away. Can I put the plastic cover back on or will it melt without the foam? Thank you for any input.

It probably makes no difference, but the Acoustic insulation foam (#2 in the diageam, BMW part # 11128623487) is available separately.

Make sure this diagram matches your car (model, production date) to get the correct part:
