So when I try to use my windshield wipers. the wipers work but there is no fluid coming out. I tried to listen to for the motor but couldnt hear anything. What do I need to do to troubleshoot the problem? Thanks for the help, I just bought the damn car a few weeks ago

First, make sure the fluid reservoir has fluid. Btw, you can't use just any windshield fluid as the under hood temps are too high. You do need to use the stuff from the dealer. Second, pop the hood with the engine off after pressing the start button without pressing any pedal. You should be able to hear the pump working. If you can't check the fuse. The location of the fuse is a bit of a mystery but check the fuse panel in the trunk. There's a cryptic diagram of the fuses ion the fuse panel.

This happened to my 2016 M235 this summer. The windshield washer fluid pump is dead. The fix is pretty easy and cheap if you're a DIYer. If you have headlight washers, you're car will have two pumps and the pump for the headlight washers is slightly larger, but since your windshield nozzles aren't getting fluid, it's that pump. The pump is mounted directly to the washer fluid reservoir which is mounted behind the passenger side fender and is accessible from the wheel well. It's a bit fiddly to get the reservoir out. Lots of patience and carefully working the reservoir out of it's lower mount is key. Getting it back is is pretty easy. I could do the job now in 30 minutes.

I bought a OEM $65 pump as it lasted 7 years and didn't want to risk using a $15-30 aftermarket one which tend to go out much quicker: https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw...934159#fitment

Im having a similar issue but I can hear the pumps running when I try to use the spray. I've read elsewhere that the lines can get clogged, so I'm going to try blowing some air into the nozzles and see if I can break loose whatever is jamming it up. I'll update the thread if I can figure anything out.

I've never heard of hood temps getting too *hot* for regular washer fluid, that's interesting. I got regular antifreeze washer fluid to make sure lines don't break but will look into this more.

Ya I cant hear the pump working. Ill prob end up just replacing it myself and hope its nothing else

Google 'BMW washer pump rain-x' for explanations of how certain washer fluid formulations clog BMW pumps.

Since installing the replacement pump I've used only BMW's washer fluid, which comes as concentrate. I mix it 1-3 with distilled water for use to about 0 degrees F.

In 25 years, we have never used BMW washer fluid in any of our half-dozen BMWs. Maybe I should not have said that.

And I'll bet your previous BMWs had dipsticks. Things change! (43 years of BMW ownership here!)
