Getting an all-round tint and a clear bra today

…or at least my car is.

My 17 year-old reckons it will make the Deuce (midnight silver 228i M Sport) look more gangsta (the car is very popular with him and his buddies) and I am hoping it will no longer be possible to fry an egg on the dash every time it's been parked outside in the daylight for more than half an hour (I live in L.A.).

Anyway, it seems to be a sensible thing to do. I hope it does not bring the LAPD down on my head, as it's a tad darker than the legal limit of 70% clear.

How's that? I am getting a much lighter tint in the front because I am 55 and my eyes ain't what they used to be, especially in the dark.

I just had my invisi-bra put on last saturday and did an all around tint (35%). I have a black M235xi and it looks bad ass with the tinted windows. You won't be disappointed. The only shitty part for me is you can't wash the car or the windows for a week. My baby has tree pollen all over her and mashed bugs, can't wait to wash it all off tomorrow.

Front window tint is always dangerous. It hinders your vision at night/cloudy days and really shouldn't be done unless you have a medical condition...

Well, it's a much lighter tint than the sides and rear. I did not notice any diminished visibility when driving it home today. I am in Los Angeles where the glare is really intense this time of year and it helps with that. Your point about night/clouds is well-taken. I will have the tint removed if it's a factor but somehow I doubt it.

Not true...as long as your other windows are tinted you wont see any difference. The problem is with front window tint is that any light coming in from the car that isnt equal to the light can inhibit vision (hence why you need your others tinted)

I have a buddy that his CTS-V limoed 5% all the way around including the front windshield and you honestly cannot tell any difference...However in my cars since I dont have the front windhield tinted the sides are dark (5%) and sometimes can be hard to see (since light coming in is much brighter)

he will be absolutely fine doing 70% all the way around...70% is pretty much clear...

Thanks, yes, there is absolutely no impedance to my vision whatsoever, day or night, and I am sure you are right, it's about the indside/outside balance of light and dark. My tint is actually more aggressive than the legal 70%, as strict compliance would render the effect of it minimal and not worth the effort/expense. From what I recall, it's 35% sides/back and 55% front but I may be off as I do not have the numbers at hand. It's 90 degrees in L.A. today, the glare is merciless and I am so glad I did this, as not only does it look great but the reduction in air temps inside the car is very significant. The guy who did it does nothing but this (and wraps), mainly on very expensive cars with fussy owners, so I am happy I took his advice regarding the intensity of the tint.
