Cygnus Leader
If anyone is waiting on their cars and know that their cars are on the Cygnus Leader, this is the thread to track the vessel all the way from Bremerhaven to Port Hueneme, CA. The boat is scheduled to depart from Bremerhaven on 03/13 and dock at port Hueneme on the 10th of April. Attached is a picture of the boat docked at Bremerhaven getting all of our cars loaded onto it.
You can track the progress made by the vessel on the following URL: http://www.marinetraffic.com/en/ais/.../shipid:463387 This particular ship is one of the slow ones which has an average speed of 14.2 knots so the wait will indeed be a long and particularly painful one. Once the boat is properly at sea and away from the coast, we can track the vessel using the following URL: http://www.vesselfinder.com/?imo=9381249 The NYK Line Schedule for the Cygnus Leader and all the other ships from the NYK Line can be found here and is attached: http://www.nykroro.com/documents/RTW-AFCON/RTWwk10.pdf Last edited by Gatte; 03-13-2015 at 09:49 AM.. |

I don't think there is anyone else who's obsessively tracking their car on the Cygnus Leader. Where are all the crazy people when you need them ???

I know my car has been sitting at the port all week waiting, I am wondering if it got on that ship. I called in and they still say it is waiting.

We should probably track the Oregon Highway and the Metis Leader to see if they do the same trips or different ones. Metis Leader I think went across the pacific ocean to pick up Hondas, Toyotas, Nissans and Kias and it probably does a whole round the world trip which is kinda cool. You better get on that ceiling fan. Don't wanna make the boss too angry. |

They would usually know that it's on the boat after it gets on and some people have reported that BMW NA can sometimes have a lag of a day or 2. If yours is a ED, request the customer relations representative to connect you the the ED Sales Specialist and they will know if it's on the boat. They knew which boat my car would go on 2 days before it got loaded onto the boat. |

Oregon Highway seems to be on repeat run as are several of the sister ships. I can't find a schedule for Metis Leader past Port Hueneme on the NYK site. I'm curious if it's on a Round the World run or if she reverses course. There are a few warships off Ostend, Belgium: the Mewa, Willemstad and Donau that look to be operating together. A few English ships show up just south of Weymouth as well. Around here, which is the US biggest naval base, the ships only show up when underway, so I'm guessing it's so civilian navigation can see them in crowded waters. I'll bet they "disappear" off the coast.

I was able to find some of these naval ships. I was searching for them wrong. Obviously not very experienced at this tracking thing YET. If you observe all the ships even off the coast of England, they all appear to be driving (Sailing) on the right side of the road (Ocean, waterway). I wonder how the English feel about that. |

I'll be following the Metis Leader to see just for jollies. The destination currently listed looks like a nav point outside the port of Nagoya. I'm really wondering where she goes from there. Looks like the Cygnus Leader is heading in to Southampton right on schedule.

After receiving this car, I couldn't care less about ships (in general) or whatever. When you get yours, Gatte, you'll know what I mean Supernaut might not change I will say this ... the whole process taught me a lot I didn't know before, so, in a way, it was more rewarding than just a simple car buying process.
