This is truly the return to the 2002, small fast cars that are fun to drive, not cheap, but obtainable.

I'm so tired of hearing this. What about the 1-series?

The Jalopnik article was spot on calling people out on this kind of thing.

This is an absolutely exhilarating car. I have not been excited about cars since my e46 cab!

It looks perfect from every angle...

Well the 1 Series is dead now and the 2er is the successor. It was short-lived unfortunately.

In the US maybe. But we had a 1er from 2004 to the present.
Although I can tell you the US will see a new BMW 1er.

It will probably be the 1 series GT with the new three cylinder turbo engine, that sounds awesome.

Exactly! thank you.

the 1-series was actually waaaay more inspired by the 2002 than this car is. It also carried more of those attributes as it was an original idea. The F22 is a continuation of the E82.

Too bad the 1 series is ugly. This is not only (hopefully) fun to drive, obtainable and fast but it also looks excellent--that's what the 1 was missing for many people.

I never warmed up to its looks either, but the original point still stands.

Check out Orlove's article on Jalopnik. He's better at putting it into words than I am:

It's grown on me, especially since I bought the 1M.

To be honest, none of the post Bangle era non-M BMWs have been great lookers (with the possible exception of the E92).

That seems to be changing with the current generation. The 6-er is a looker and the 3, 4 and 5 are improvements over the previous generation as well.

Nothing special, just explained what you can also see:

- BMW kidneys
- typical BMW headlights
- Coupe
- Hofmeister kink
- longer than 1er
- wider than 1er
- interior more or less as in the 1er
- enough space in the front, limited in the back
- sporty, elegant, he likes it
